Wheelchairs, 16x20 or 18x20 or 20x20, hemi height, regular height, desk arms, regular arms, feet only or leg pads that are adjustable, extendable break locks, anti-tippers for the back, what type of cushion, just a gel cushion or a full seat/back cushion; you want the deluxe package or you wanna go the cheap package Ranting I now know more about wheelchairs than I want to know Mad And for the record, if you order a hemi height it's a 10 day build time Ranting But luckily they gave me one to borrow - and I discovered that sucker won't go from the dining room to the den; due to a height difference between the two rooms Facepalm Now to fix that problem before Wednesday - just want I want to do and spend my Holiday weekend doing Blowup That and moving furniture around so he doesn't bump into everything with it - gawd help me - cause I'm not enjoying this at all Nono2

The saving grace to learning it won't go from one room to another is - I have marble thresholds between my kitchen and living room - and dining room and kitchen bulb and my bathroom as well woot That is such a plus for me worship There is a silver lining after all Cool

Regular height you cannot reach the floor with your feet; Hemi height you can and you are able to self propel yourself with your feet and help yourself that way rather than just using the wheels to turn; many patients just use their feet to move around with. When I'm up at Rehab I make him use the wheels so that he gets used to that idea; as there are some tight spots in the home that he will need to navigate - so he needs to learn to do it both ways. Problem is they have pushed him around every where around up there - never allowing him to wheel him self Frown

He will nevah drive anything motorized again; they didn't even approve him for a motorized wheelchair due to his vision issues shake head

Plus he will have the feet pads to put his feet on, if he doesn't want to self propel himself; if he does he can just use his feet and move them to the side out of his way; and if he really wants them completely out of his way; they unlock and completely move to the side of the wheelchair or can be completely removed - see I told you I know too much about these Mad And to make them 17" or 17-1/2" there are 2 spoke areas on the side where the wheels go - and they simply move the wheel up or down to get that height adjustment.

Gawd what happened to me Weeping

Oh for those of you on Medicare be aware of the upcoming changes as of July 1st; our Government in their braininess have decided to pick different Durable Medical Equipment Companies to receive "bids" - but this doesn't mean when a patient is released from a hospital and needs 3 different types of medical equipment such as a hospital bed, wheelchair, and a bedside commode as an example - that they will all come from the same Supplier - as said Supplier may have only gotten the bid for the bed, another for the wheelchair, and another for the commode. Which means they will not be delivering like they used to be; therefore the hospital and/or Rehab cannot release said patient until all equipment is delivered - which means they have to keep them and in the end run up that Medicare bill - which is what they are trying to prevent. Pretty slick - hey Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

And, they cut the reimbursement to the Suppliers as well - they used to get $100 a month for 13 months for a hospital bed; and after that the person who is using it owns it. Now they are only getting $50 a month for 13 months; but their overhead is still the same; all reimbursements have been cut in half. Therefore, many of the businesses that were in business have now gone out of business due to this factor; they weren't picked by "bid" so they can't compete. For several others they hope to partner up with those that were picked by "bid". This will also turn this into a "cash" business, especially for those who do not have the 5 years between each durable medical device purchased - so they will go where it's cheapest - online - to a local place who will wheel and deal, etc.

In other words, it's really screwed up now Sadwalk
