Steel frame - not common on entry level hybrids, particularly at this price. I am a relatively new road bike rider, find the ride of steel frames FAR superior to aluminum - and based on one 30 mile test ride - superior to TREK carbon frame.

Anyone know what might be up? I've been thinking about getting a bike, but I also live in a big city, so I'm a bit afraid of getting hit by overzealous drivers...
EDIT: I've actually devised a plan to ride without drawing the wrath of spiteful drivers, so now I think I'll get the bike if I can. Unfortunately, I still can't get the item to load. I tried to search for it on Google and access the page that way, but encountered the same problem. Is there a big difference between men and women bikes?
EDIT EDIT: I sent CS an email. I'll let you know what they report back.
I purchased the mens with a medium frame a few months ago and have had no real complaints with it. I brought the box to my local SA and they assembled it for me. I'm not one of these lance armstrong folks riding around in a yellow spandex shirt but for a regular person that is going to go for a 10 mile ride 1-2x/week, it is sufficient and at that price is pretty great.

Do you mind sharing how tall you are and how the medium fits for you? Thanks
When it comes to purchasing a bike, you need to determine how many times are you going to ride it. A few times a year, I would buy this one for $144. If you are willing and able to ride the bike at least once a month, I would invest more money to the equipment. Just my two cents...

That's a fair point. For me, it's about risk. I haven't ridden a bike since over 10 years ago, and there's a chance I won't feel safe doing it. Thus, I think it's smarter for me to invest $144 in this one rather than buying a more expensive one, because there's a chance I won't end up using it. If I end up loving it, I might go for something more expensive later on if I feel this one doesn't meet my needs (I'm hoping to ride at least 2 days/week to and from work.)
I haven't heard back from CS, though, so I may be SOL on getting the women's bike. I'm going to drive over to my nearby SA store during lunch to see if they have any available.

My perception is that the negative, meh have little understanding of bicycles, issues are independent of the specific bike. Even for a $144 bike, I would have it tuned up by a real bike shop, AFTER it has been assembled at SA, we have an excellent mobile repair guy who charges very reasonable rates.

Can you let us know how tall you are and how the Medium frame fits? I'm on the shorter side (5'7") so based on the sizing chart, I think I need a Small, but I only see M-XL listed. I wonder if the "boys" size would be a better fit.
I have a short (3mi), flat commute to work everyday. Sadly my bike was just stolen yesterday so I'm looking for a cheap replacement.
Sorry, haven't logged in in a few days. I'm 5'9 and the Medium almost feels a little shorter than I would prefer, it should be perfectly fine for you.
