We had a heckuva rain/wind storm blow through about 5:30 or 6:00 pm, so the back yard which needed mowing badly wasn't cut until today/Saturday. As small as the back yard is, VF had to empty the mower bag twice, and it was seriously full each time. It was still too wet to mow early this morning, so I pulled out, cleaned, and reset the pavers along the driveway near the garage. Mrs. Frogge had thrown them back in place after the driveway was poured three years ago, and they never set nearly level nor straight. No longer. Worst part was lugging the bags of crushed stone/paver base. But at least I had a few here at home, didn't have to go pick any up.
General Greek herb blend: oregano, mint, thyme, basil, marjoram. Mostly oregano and mint. Smaller amounts of the thyme, basil, and marjoram.
Cold and Rainy and I was the first coach to vote No.
With my Spain trip just over a week away, I didn't want to get my dumb @ss sick.
Speaking of Spain...
On my Last update AA had moved my flight from Tues to Thursday.
A few days ago I tried to curtail the hotel stay to just 2 nights...NOPE it is 4 days or 0 days.
Fri and Sat are booked full, so I can't book those 2 nights and then cancel my previous reservation.
The kicker...it's $312/ Night...but actually it is a lot more...there is a 40-45% tourist tax on top. So the $1200~ for Marriot has a $500 tourist tax added on top $1700
My option is to keep the 4 nights and pay an effective $850 a night or sleep at the airport.
Expedia was no fricken help. You basically have a 24hr window and then you are F'ed.
Since it was raining, I tried the American Airlines App...managed to rebook the flight back to Tuesday out of SFO, but now it has a 4hr layover in DFW (which might actually be just long enough to switch gates!) and then on to BCN. Oh and this only cost me $350 more! Thanks AA !!!
The upside is that I'm not loosing the $ on the Marriot and most importantly (as I've come to realize) is that I get back 48 hours in Spain that I would have lost out on.
I need to get over the Jet Lag before bicycling for a week on Mallorca (which was the whole point of the trip).
Sunday I got 30 miles in with the road group and then grabbed my shovel, pick, rake and gloves and got to work on the RV Sidewalk.
Good or bad a fellow coach gave me 2 pickup truck loads worth of 1"-3" river rock.
I put that in next to the RV driveway to keep the dirt at bay.
Well now it's time to put concrete there and I literally moved the rock by hand.
Racking or shoveling it was not working. I want the rocks, but not all the dirt...so I broke up the soil and loosened the rocks with the pickaxe and then on my hands and knees flung rock by rock a pickup full load of rocks onto the RV driveway to get them out of my way.
Yeah it was kind of an OCD moment, but I'm feeling it today.
I think I have the dirt dug down to about the depth I need.
Tonight I hope to start installing the form boards.
This will be a better check to see if it is deep enough, level*, etc...
*I'll have it sloped just a % or two to make sure the rain runs the proper direction.
Saturday I had a bunch of people at the house for a jam, seems like I probably had the right number of people. Could maybe have one or two more if I arrange things differently. Apparently my piano jamming skills are now adequate for receiving compliments, not bad for two months of learning. It was fun to have my full array of instruments at hand.
Sunday I hiked 6.5 miles, and then after lunch finally mowed the lawn for the first time this year. I did the whole thing on one battery, so I apparently did not wait too long The neighbor's great big magnolia is blooming so I paused for a picture.

Nice looking Blooms

Finally, sloping the area is the absolute best thing you can do with it. Get that water to flow somewhere else.
We broiled the lemon/pepper/herb pork chops tonight, had red new potatoes and broccoli for sides. VF is actually getting dressed like a human tomorrow and meeting co-workers from the previous job for lunch. It's a little Greek joint with home cooking called Nefelie's and everything they prepared was always so very good. They shut down during the pandemic, reopened on a limited basis afterwards, but recently went back to full-time with lunches and dinner again.
Baked two layers of that lemon doberge cake today, but no icing, no custard, no ganache, nothing except for seedless blackberry jam thinned out slightly, spread over the top. The yellow/lemon cake and the blackberry topping contrasted very nicely, and it was quite light, actually.

So the guy referred me to the other local music shop in town, I went there after buying a pack of strings. The guy at the second store leads me to the ugly pedal I don't want, but they do have one other model, so I grabbed that. Used it during my practice last night, it should do the trick, and is visually appealing
I think my A1C average went up from just THINKING about eating it

DC's gonna have an actual VAY-CAY-SHUN!!!
Funny tidbit, I emailed someone selling a little PA unit on craigslist, and put my name at the end. The seller responded, and said "is this Frogstar from the jam?", yeah, turns out it's someone I know.

Just had the most excruciating call with a customer for what should have been a pretty straight-forward deal. Our normal tech contact there was unavailable, we apparently got the dregs of what the offshore team has to offer, just trying to get him to enter literally any text into a comment box and hit the Post button was an ordeal. And then he insisted on typing a whole-ass sentence (slowly) and then going back to fix his typos. For a simple test in dev, to verify our systems are connected.
