You know what... my gf might be interested in a trip to the country sometime this spring. Let me run that by her.

"Baby, you want to go visit this guy I know from the internet?"

We'll see how that goes over. LMAO

But srsly I will work on that.
There are some nice B&Bs around here. Check them out around New Kent, VA. You can stop by on your way.

There's usually something going on in Richmond during the spring and summer. It's only 15 or 20 minutes from New Kent. Glen Allen has a lot of stuff too on the weekends (again, spring and summer), and it's only 30 minutes from there. I doubt you guys would be too interested in the winery. There's also horse racing, but I thought I heard talk about the tracks going out of business or something.

Chickens are disgusting creatures. I don't know anyone who would want to sleep with them.

bulb GF loves Richmond. We were there for a 5k/10k (I did 5, she ran 10) last year. I think we're signing up again this year (I'll be running 10k!), let me check if we are and if so when it happens.

We walked around some part of Richmond that was just LOUSY with hipsters. I'm talking, both sides of the street, greased hair, waxed mustaches, suspenders over plaid shirts, girls in dress shirts & slacks with a tie & vest, honest-to-God hipsters everywhere you looked. It was flippin' hilarious! We ate at some burger joint that had organic grass-fed New Zealand hand-raised reincarnated dali lama cows that had had their chakras aligned and their chi removed prior to slaughter, with cheese made from milk gathered at dawn by virgin vegan milkmaids into hand-blown glass containers, onions grown aeroponically with only duck poop as fertilizer, etc. etc.

They were decent burgers though. But they didn't have any normal soda or anything, only like mint ginseng iced tea or some super-small-batch craft beer or y'know like quadruple-distilled glacier water from Greenland or something, and the fries were shit. I forget the name of that place. It was next to a hipster supermarket full of organic lentils and exotic beans. Dontknow

edit: oh yeah, we were also down there for my Muay Thai instructor's last fight! It was at some swanky hotel. He lost though. Sadwalk

laugh out loud It sounds like you were either in Carytown or Glen Allen, and I'm guessing you ate at BurgerBach. There's a big hipster culture in the city, but it's nice an podunk where i live in the country.

Carytown and BurgerBach are absolutely correct! We also hit the chocolate/candy store and walked up some main street with TONS of hipster "thrift" type stores & boutiques. There was one cool toy store with unicorn head masks though. And all these creepy statues of like hands, or children, or I think a chicken and a pig? And the guy who helped us at the grocery store had I shit you not yellow plaid flannel shirt, red courduroy pants with green suspenders, a pointy goatee & mustache and hair ALL waxed out to like sharp points, and the super-nerdy thick-framed glasses I always suspect are for show & have fake lenses. I wish I'd gotten a picture with him, he was THE poster boy for hipster life.

laugh out loud There's a reason I've only been to Carytown once. I needed some organic wheat berries from Ellwood Thompson which is probably the market you were talking about.
