Hey there, you late-night, number-cruncher, you! wave

I made another batch of pastry dough this morning and chilled it in the fridge all day. At 3 pm I began finely chopping onion, bell pepper, celery, and garlic. They were sauteed in the black iron skillet with a stick of butter, some salt, white pepper, and cayenne pepper. Once the onions were translucent, it came off the heat and some Chardonnay wine was added for extra moisture. Then, two cups of buttery Keebler Club cracker crumbs and some freshly chopped parsley were added and the entire batch was mixed together with chopped cooked shrimp and crab meat. This went into the fridge long enough to remove most of the remaining warmth while I rolled out the dough and cut circles out. A single batch of dough yields about three dozen circles. These were stuffed/folded/crimped, and the tarts/pies went into the freezer. I finished up about 5 pm and cleaned up the kitchen, just because it's a lot easier that way.

We've got a "big game" (don't want to mis-use a trademarked name, ya know) party at the office on Friday. I'll bring a couple dozen of the meat-filled and seafood-filled pies there, and keep the rest in the freezer at home for snacks, later. Pop 'em in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes and they're delicious.

Well, apparently NYC is expecting the worst blizzard conditions in years. CNN tonight was full of the mayor warning people to stay home and off the roads.
