I see by the national weather folk this morning, that VViles should be expecting between 3 and 12 inches today.
For VViles' sake, I'm hoping it's only 3 inches. (That's NOT what she said!)
I may yet swap the wheels out for some stock-size 14" wheels. On the drive back to Nebraska, after a sheriff merged onto the highway and just blew past me, I turned on the speedometer app on my phone and found that at highway speed, the speedometer was reading 6MPH low.
But we left at 11AM on Saturday morning, arrived at the Applebee's just after 1:30PM and let the guy know we were there--there was actually a second Miata in the lot too, coincidentally. I took it out for a spin, and he told me he had bad news... turns out the battery had been dead when he went to start it, he got a jump to drive it there and was hoping the drive would charge it. So he knocked $100 off the price so I could head to a parts store and get a battery put in for the drive home.
There are two Autozones in Topeka, and from Applebee's one is 6 miles away and the other is 5.8. The slightly closer one looked like it had a simpler route, so we picked that one. We arrive, and the guy says they can have a battery there by 6:30PM, or the store up north has one
So we drove to the other store and after five minutes they managed to find the battery, and the guy there said since he was a Mazda enthusiast, he'd put it in for me. Then we went to Steak & Shake, as it was on the route back. I had PG as the lead car to get us back on the highway, and the signs leading there were not particularly helpful--we saw one that said 75 North, took it, and a few miles later, we were on the Kansas turnpike. Pulled over at the first gas station, and Google Maps for some reason wanted me to drive another 15 miles before turning around, but we figured there was no good reason we couldn't just turn around there.
After that we found the correct exit, and the rest of the drive home was pretty uneventful. I got to enjoy the sound system, and as the rain started, discovered that I should probably invest in new wiper blades soon.
For VViles' sake, I'm hoping it's only 3 inches. (That's NOT what she said!)
1) my desktop/network password was locked, leaving me no access to report the problem
2) users reported a database problem in one of their test environments. The error log pointed to the wrong one of 43 different databases. That took a while to track down the actual problem source.
3) another user wanted a data dictionary definition updated . . . only took ten minutes.
Is it lunch time, yet?

All told between the parking lot dent payout and the selling price, I came out ahead a few hundred bucks and a fun new ride.
#2 sounds painful.
