I think that deal is not for me. I'm hungry though, haven't figured out my destination.

Question. I need to get a new ECM for the bride's grand caravan. Do either of you frogs know if it requires some sort of programming for the mileage and VIN or can i just swap them out plug and play style.
I don't know about Dodge/Chrysler or Ford products, but GM products have VIN protection checks in them. If one module doesn't agree with another, they basically shut down. Probably best to ask whichever junk yard / provider who supplies your replacement ECM, or (and only as a VERY LAST RESORT) take the replacement ECM to the dealer and ask them if it requires them to write/burn the VIN into it. The problem with dealers is, they'll lie to you and charge you to do it, even if it doesn't need it. Annoyed

Here's a rather informative thread from 2007 [chryslerminivan.net] which might help you a bit.
The most helpful item from the Terms and Conditions:

B. Parts Covered for 8 years or 80,000 miles
If your vehicle has one of the following parts, this
Federal Emission Warranty covers that part for a
period of 8 years or 80,000 miles, whichever occurs first.
These limits are counted from the time when your
Basic Limited Warranty begins under 2.1(E). The
covered parts are:
• catalytic converter; and
• powertrain control module.

Taco Bell for lunch, stopped at the bank and made my account happier, and printed out my temporary insurance cards. I'll have to split a little early so I can make arrangements for the sheriff to inspect the car so I can get it titled and plated.

In NC, they claim the DMV must "investigate" an out-of-state vintage vehicle before issuing the NC title. All they did was photograph the car and its VIN plates. Big whoop. laugh out loud

Here's another helpful link [sweet-sauer.com] about reprogramming for the VIN and mileage:

Next Generation Controller (NGC) – This PCM can be identified by four 38-pin connectors (See Figure 3). It was used on passenger cars, minivans and trucks and was phased in starting in 2002; it is still used today. The NGC-type PCM incorporated the transmission functions inside of it, as well as the engine functions.

Figure 3
PCM Figure 3a

Software programming is needed for this PCM.

Scan tool functions include:
1. The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) needs to be entered. This is required for vehicles with Sentry Key Immobilizer System (SKIS).
2. The vehicle mileage needs to be entered into a replacement PCM.
3. If the vehicle is equipped with Electronic Throttle Control (ETC), the 'ETC Relearn' needs to be performed.
4. Transmission 'Quick Learn' for proper transmission shifting functions needs to be performed on passenger cars and minivans.
5. 'Pinion factor' (which is another name for tire size) needs to be selected on passenger cars and minivans.

Yeah, that's basically what they're going to do here, make sure the VIN on the title matches the VIN on the car. And check the odometer.

Nope, any out-of-state vehicle purchase needs an inspection here.

Thanks! I will look at the thread on how to program it. High Five

Yeah, that was part of the negotiation, it was in a town five hours away, I wasn't too keen on driving five hours there, buying it, then driving five hours back. I shot the guy a low figure (but not quite "lowball" low) and said I could offer more if he'd meet me halfway.
I guess you skipped my wall-of-text or you'd know I drove it here from Topeka Tongue

I'm still pretty stoked about buying a private party car that is already in 100% daily driver condition Roll
Granted, it's the most I've ever spent on one (two and a half gees), but still.
