So, after having a good lunch and letting this whole UPS debacle simmer on the back burner for a few hours, I called the national 800 number again, and mentioned the magic word "escalation". After a minimal amount of hemming and hawing, and several minutes on hold, I got connected to "Joe" a floor supervisor (or so he claimed.) I told him I didn't want any apologies, I had received enough of those from UPS already today.

To my utter surprise, Joe accepted responsibility for UPS's multiple faults/errors, and committed to intercepting the package, and re-routing it to Charlotte for delivery. Now, let's just see what happens.

I don't understand why it got shipped back. Often if someone's not home at our house to sign it just goes back to the post office and they leave a note saying to pick it up there. I don't think they've ever returned to sender.

Glad someone is fixing it for you though!

This is UPS, not the postal service. UPS is notorious for automating things that have no business being automated. In this case, the local package handlers and drivers farked up multiple times.

Maybe someone at UPS read Llama's post and thought, "why not try it?" laugh out loud

VF - Not that this is going to help you now. But I signed up for UPS My choice and was able to change it so that deliveries did not require a signature. I don't remember how I did it, but I do remember doing it! Roll

Everything that went wrong yesterday and today was all UPS's fault, and not the shipper's fault, nor was it mine. Until I escalated the problem this afternoon, not a single person at UPS Customer Service (multiple local and national phone calls, and multiple e-mail messages) attempted to accept or recognize any responsibility on UPS's part. They all just apologized and threw up their hands saying "there's nothing we can do", as if it was some sort of corporate mantra.

Serious problems in corporate America, when they'd rather dispose of the customer and never bother considering the actual facts in the case. Farking idiots. Mad

Another afternoon of training over. Had to start late because the Miata just told that it is indeed the starter that's been failing... whacking on it got me to the mechanic I was planning to take it to anyway. But they can't have the part in until Friday.
When I stop in, I may just ask if they're aware of Amazon Prime...

I need some new pants. These 32s are just too big now.
I'm not sure I ever see myself back in a 32. I'd have to be back down to 160, which I think is too skinny for my frame.

Oh, one last thing for the idiots at UPS:

Quit saying "there's nothing I can do about it" or "such and such is already done". What you need to do is make it right for the customer who didn't receive their package, entirely due to UPS' faults.

You're a farking package pickup and delivery service. Get my farking package back from Nashville to Charlotte, and drop it on my farking doorstep. What's so damned difficult about doing that?
Sir, we're in the business of making money, not providing good service.
