The BBC has suspended Jeremy Clarkson following allegations of a fracas with a Top Gear producer.



The BBC2 show will not be broadcast this Sunday [independent.co.uk] while the BBC investigates the allegation.


Clarkson was already on a final warning from the BBC following a string of accusations of racism.


The BBC said: "Following a fracas with a BBC producer Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended pending an investigation. No one else has been suspended. Top Gear will not be broadcast this Sunday. The BBC will be making no further comment at this time."

Hammond tweeted [twitter.com]: "Gutted at such a sad end to an era. We're all three of us idiots in our different ways but it's been an incredible ride together."


May gave no comment, but updated his Twitter profile [twitter.com] to say: "Former TV presenter".

Yea so its time to downgrade my tv service as I had a tier to only see BBCA with Top gear. I'm going to enjoy watching BBC's ratings plummit. That was their #1 show by far...

Do you think he'd be allowed to work on the US Top Gear? Doubt he'd want to but you think he's barred from anything named "Top Gear" in any country?

hey, this actually makes me want to start collecting TG episodes since there's now a finite number i'll want to watch. seen a few here and there, and without the full lineup (especially Clarkson), i figure it'll be like Loveline after Carolla left.

Well May is unlikely to do Top Gear without Clarkson, although Hammond might, not sure, so they might be looking for two Ashton Kutchers.

BBC Worldwide owns the American version of Top Gear, so it's unlikely that Clarkson would be on it since the BBC is not renewing his contract.

Aye I think May will end up doing his own show thats more intelligent and not car related. He's toyed with the idea on short mini series in the past.

Atleast we got the Final italy show in the states. I dont think they showed any of it in Britain, but I may be way wrong on that.

What are you on about? There are 3 episodes remaining in the season that will likely never air. The last one had the Jaguar F-type coupe and Tanner Foust doing rally cross with James May.
