I figured I would start a new thread for the Costco Powerstroke 3100psi 2.4GPM Subaru Engine pressure washer that was being discussed in my other thread for the Costco Black Max 2800psi 2.3GPM Honda Engine pressure washer (http://slickdeals.net/f/7801967-costco-black-max-2800psi-2-3gpm-honda-motor-pressure-washer-259-99?v=1).

I finally saw it in my local Costco today in place of the Black Max I purchased a couple weeks ago. As mentioned in the other thread, SKU is #976674. Price is $299.99. Similar to the Black Max, it has the soap dispenser, but it also has electric start, which the Black Max does not. Thanks to Medic311 and JonBlaze1140 for the research and reviews.

Costcos across the country are getting in the new Powerstroke Electric Start pressure washer, w/ Subaru engine. i'll take that any day over the black max or the simpson they used to carry

the Powerstroke has 3100 psi and 2.4gpm

"A new PowerStroke Electric Start 3100 PSI Pressure Washer powered by a Subaru engine will be introduced to the market this Spring. The unit will deliver superior power and functionality. The electric start engine makes this pressure washer as easy to start as a corded electric unit, but still supplies the force needed to tackle tough applications. Since the engine is commercial duty, the pressure washer is perfect for use around the jobsite, as well as the home.

Electric Start
As if Subaru engines were not already easy to use, this unit comes standard with electric start. With one press of a switch, the pressure washer is ready to clean. A battery maintainer cable is included with the pressure washer to trickle charge the battery between uses so it's always ready. In the event the battery is not charged, the unit's recoil start may be used.

Subaru Commercial Duty Engine
The Subaru EA190 Vertical Engine has a chain-driven overhead cam design. The engine comes with commercial features including steel rocker arms, heavy-duty piston rings and a cast-iron cylinder liner, all combining to give the engine longer life.

Cleaning Power
Boasting 3100 PSI and 2.4 GPM, the new pressure washer is capable of cleaning heavy duty applications. The unit includes four, professional-style nozzles, allowing the user to obtain the correct degree of cleaning force. The pressure washer also sports an on-board soap tank. Users can simply install the blue soap nozzle to apply detergent, then switch it out for any of the other three, higher degree nozzles to rinse with clean water.

The new pressure washer, model PS80310E, will be available at Costco in April.

I purchased this Subaru, electric start power washer from Costco this past Saturday. I'd been waiting for Costco to stock the Honda power washers and it looks like Costco may be going in another direction this year. It was very easy to put together and, after putting in some oil and gas (and charging the battery for about an hour), it started up very quick and easy. You literally push a button and it starts up. You still have the option of doing a "pull start" but I like the ease of the electric start.

In terms of first impressions, I was very impressed. I washed a stamped concrete patio, a portion of my driveway and my garage door. It worked very well and, although you will definitely smell like gasoline after using it, this unit was not like others where you reek of gasoline after the job. I used it for about 3-4 hours, mainly to get used to the different nozzles and spray patterns.

The gas tank itself is a little small and it is dark plastic so almost impossible to see where the gas level is while filling up. Wanting to err on the side of caution, I was very careful not to overfill. This meant I had to refill it with gasoline 3 times.

All in all, I am very happy with the purchase. I tried to google information about this particular model but, other than the webpage from powerstroketools, I could not find any information about this particular model. I suspect it may be a special model created specifically for Costco.

Oh, and the residential manufacturer's warranty is THREE years (the commercial-use warranty is only 1 year). Not sure if Costco adds an additional 1 year onto this warranty, but I've never been burned by Costco before, so I feel it is a solid buy. You won't be disappointed.

By the way, I purchased it from the Costco in Charlotte, NC (Tyvola Rd.). Just be aware -- the box is pretty heavy. There were a ton of units when I bought mine. I'm a regular to Costco, so I'm pretty sure it was the first weekend they had them on the floor.

Picked one up in store..good deal. If it breaks take it back. Rolls good decent hose, cleaned sidewalk and siding like a champ. Tried siding wash as i never used soap before, compared one with and one with soap for 5 minutes one wet for 5. The cleaners did work better with less pressure to remove green growth. The only issue is you really dont know when the soap is gone..25 foot hose ok could use about 5 more feet. Im a honda guy but wth usually the pump goes before the engine. Repped

Just wait for few more weeks. Historically Costco discounts their power washer in May. Sells at about $270. Am waiting for the new coupon book.

Subaru is a subsidiary of a larger conglomerate Fuji Heavy Industries, also has part share by Toyota. Amongst all their divisions, no doubt they would throw their hat of expertise into the small engine American market. I have an Outback so I was partial to this purchase, knowing full hand their reliability. The electric start is quite nifty, after getting use to the odd "two-push" button. Maybe it's just me, but the button wasn't intuitive even after reading the instructions. You slide it up then push down? Also, don't make the mistake I did thinking the pressure washer did not have enough power/or a defect. After starting it, I began right away pulling the trigger on the wand but lost pressure fairly quick. I believe you need to wait a minute for the machine to "warm" and pressurize. After that, steady pressure for an hour straight.
same thing happened twice, it loses pressure at the onset, but after that, not even a hiccup. connect the water hose first and pull the trigger before for a minute of so, to get rid off the air inside, before firing up the engine. At the end, after you shut it off, pull the trigger again to relieve the pressure.

Bought mine on Friday after lots of research. The local Costco didn't have it, but the one 1-1/2 hours away had 15.

Used it for 8 hours cleaning some really bad algea of the pool walls while the sump pump was draining it--worked great.

PROS:
electric starter
powerful water flow
easy to move around (good sized wheels)
convenient soap storage

CONS:
hose (too stiff and too short at 25 feet)
gas capacity
inconvenient gas tank location

At this point, I am impressed and would definately buy again.

Wow, that is an impressive review since two of those cons can be dealt with. The only problem I see is you've only had the unit for less than one day.

My store has another Power Stroke, but with a Honda motor now. Same price.

Rating is 100 psi lower, but .1 gpm higher than the Subaru. I think I'm going to spring for it, I've had more luck with Honda products than Subaru in my lifetime.

That has been a debate for a while. Many believe it doesn't fall under the "90 days electronics" return policy, thus, would carry a lifetime warranty through Costco since Costco has a very liberal return policy on most items.

Costco.com is carrying this Subaru model again on their website for $299.99, unsure if its being offered in stores. I have not had a chance to compare it to the model they offered this time last year, spec-wise it's probably the same unit.

I'm definitely trying to get one of these this season. I see it is in the upcoming Costco ad for May 2016 with $30 off for a total of $269!! Pretty unbeatable compared to others for the value. My mother was in Costco yesterday in Olympia and said she had already seen them and that they were already on sale. Going to call around today with the item # to see what I come up with. Will update
