Masterbuilt Electric Smoker at ALDI for $99.99 starts June 3rd could be regional or nationwide

Decent price for an electric smoker not high end but not a bad deal if you smoke occasionally or to use as a backup. I am sure at this price point it doesn't have a digital timer or a thickly insulated door, however it comes with the leg kit which by itself is worth around $50.00. As stated in the title the sale doesn't start until June 3rd and some locations may not carry it.

Description from ALDI
Thermostat-controlled temperature for even, consistent smoking
Wood chip tray and removable water pan for perfectly flavored, juicy meat
Three large smoking racks

Not bad. Amazon has only had it for $100 a couple years ago.

This is a lower model than what they had.

How much smoke does this give off? Does it fill your whole backyard with smoke?

The goal would be to have "thin blue smoke" coming out of it Darker or heavier smoke will just make the food taste like a charcoal briquette (and is actually bad for your health).

That said, while you probably won't be smoking the neighborhood out, the smell is definitely noticeable (in a good way, if you ask me, but I'm not your neighbor).

The amount of smoke is all up to you. The wood chips are just for flavor.

I had a similar electric some years back and usually added the soaked chips in small amounts early on until I had a nice smoky bark. Now I'm using a primo ceramic but electric is a good set of training wheels.

Edit, this should have been two replies. Also replying to the guy asking about smoke quantity.

Thanks, I was just thinking about buying something like this. I have never smoked before so wanted something affordable to give a test run.

Just a tiny bit of smoke. You may smell it, but you will not see it.

Go for it. I have the digital version and love it, but the display is getting a little flaky after 5 years of being stored in the garage. Pork Butts are very forgiving for a first smoke.

I have the one with the digital temperature gauge and I've smoked a pork shoulder, a couple of sets of ribs and just this last Sunday my first brisket. Overall, it's worked well. Cooking with it seems to take much longer than it should... I'm not sure if my temperature gauge is off or if it's just my cooking/prep (i.e. not letting it warm up out of the fridge long enough before going in). I'm guessing it's the latter.
