I'm just really very very glad he doesn't seem to be in pain.

I'm surprised a gash in his ear hasn't happened sooner..with the way the cats go all ninja on him whenever he gets close, lol.
I'm sure he'll be OK. As long as it isn't bleeding anymore it'll heal up. hug Does the boy know that's a bad thing now?

Oh and Schoob - did you notice that your church website is for a church in Austin? Coverlaugh I didn't want you to get burned again.

He's gonna have a split in his ear though Crying But yeah...I mean at first I didn't even know if Christian had done more than scratch him with the scissors because Phantom wasn't yelping (after the first one) or doing anything..it was only when I was looking him over I saw his ear. I wish dogs could talk so they could say if they were in pain. I know cats hide it but I don't think I've heard that about dogs.

Stupid question...you all know those invisible bandages...they contain anti bacterial (or something like that) stuff and you just put them over a cut and it forms a little invisible film.

Could I put that on Phantom's ear? Or because it's more of a gash into his ear than a cut would that not work?

The thing about stitches is that they have to be done pretty quickly after the wound is made, otherwise there's no point.

You may be able to do a butterfly bandage, but you'll run into trouble b/c of the hair. Can you get out the beard trimmers and shave the ear so you have something to stick a bandage to?

Which is really just super glue. And I know humans use it... not just you know, the Band-Aid branded stuff, but soldiers and folks who work in certain job fields that might be more likely to get on-the-job wounds are also taught to use super glue/ krazy clue as a temporary fix.

Not sure about on a dog's ear, though. Embarrassment

Poor Phantom. Frown

I'm still here. I'm just installing the program to upload the pictures (of his ear) from the camera I got for Christmas. At least I'm finally installing it, I guess, lol.

He had to leave, but I just got a crash course in ear owies. laugh out loud

If it's not actively bleeding, you don't have to do anything for it. You can do the glue thing, but it's not going to heal and be all pretty and perfect. There's a vein that runs up the ear that if it's nicked the dog won't bleed to death, but infection can set in. Still send the pic and I'll make him check his email at work. He'll be there for a while taking care of all the animals of people who actually get to go on vacation. Annoyed

But he did say as long as you're able to stop the bleeding it'll be OK.

Edit: Saw the pic - it's kinda fuzzy, but it doesn't look bad at all! hug I imagined that the ear was split in two! I bet it'll heal up just fine. hug
