My lil sis, niece and best friend's dd all have tubes, but it seems so much different when it's your kid, ya know? I hope that doesn't sound snotty. If it were me, I wouldn't be writing any of this, but I hate to think of my son having to go through anything. Frown

hug Thanks, though. I'm sure I'll be here often until it's over. I'm going to be so anxious.

The black eye didn't bother me so much (I figure he's going to have many bumps and bruises), but I'm annoyed that the nurse failed to mention it to me when she called me today about his ear.
He went to the nurse twice today (bruise and ear). I was called about his ear, but didn't even receive a note about his eye. If you hav eto give my son ice for swelling on any part of his body, I want to know!
It's totally understandable. Even though I had tubes if I were told one of my kids needed them I'd still be worried. Well..not "worried" but feel bad they were going to have to go through any pain. Seriously though..it really didn't hurt and my brother, who whined about everything, it didn't bother him either. I used to lay awake at night and Scream because the pain in my ears hurt so bad (pre-tubes)....I never had that pain in my ears again. Your boy will be SO much better in the long run because you are doing this for him hug

He's been sleeping since we got home. He woke up and asked for food, took one bite of mac n' cheese (his favorite) and fell back asleep. Frown

I know this is what he needs and will be so much happier when it's done and over with.

Yeah..it's hard when your heart/brain conflict. Your brain knows it will be for the best but your heart hurts thinking about it. I totally understand that feeling and I'm sure most other parents have felt that about their kids too. hug

Hmmm... my son needs to be re-circumcised, too, but the doctor told us to wait until he was older. He said his son needs it redone, too, but he didn't recommend putting him under at that age (not now, but when he was an infant/toddler).
We were told it's possible that he'll "grow" out of it. Scratchchin

I wonder why that's such a common thing.

It's common b/c nobody freakin' tells you that it's important to retract the foreskin for the first year of the kid's life! Ranting We had no issues with boy #2. Boy #1 is still freaked when anyone comes near his stuff - I think he remembers the surgery. Annoyed But I'm glad we got it done. The skin had re-adhered and he looked as if he'd never been circ'd. I was worried about infection since the skin was adhered and not just how he was born. Should you decide to get it done, I have a surgery center I would highly recommend. The surgical center was in the Med Center, but they had an office in my neck of the 'burbs. We hedged our bets and made the same group come in and circ #2 in the hospital instead of my OB doing it. He knew I was Crazy and didn't get mad about it. Coverlaugh

My husband felt strongly about it. I was ambivalent, since I don't have that equipment. He felt that the stigma of being un-circ'd would be terrible for them. I didn't think it would be a big deal, but decided to honor his wishes since he felt so strongly about the whole topic. I would have been fine leaving them un-circ'd.

Our son's isn't reattached, but it wasn't cut short enough. Does that make sense? So when he's just standing/laying whatever, he looks uncircumcised. When he has to pee, he looks circumcised. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

His pediatrician (not the one that performed the circumcision) said it may "grow" to the point where the skin stays back all of the time. He said we should wait until he's old enough to make the decision himself (10 or 11) because, by then, we should know if it's there to stay.
I am not going to be the one having that conversation with my son. I have the feeling my SO won't either. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)
I'd like to get it taken care of now before he reaches the age where he has to undress in front of others (in gym), but three different doctors told me not to risk it. (I guess because they don't want to put him under for something that has the potential to fix itself. Dontknow)

Neither of us would have had this problem if we had girls. Annoyed laugh out loud

Iagree When I was in highschool, the girls did actually trash talk any guys that were uncircumcised (I had never seen one so I didn't participate in the bashing, but I did hear it). Obviously it was immature, but many highschoolers are.
I don't want my son to have to deal with that. (If Heaven forbid, he actually has sex at that age. Crying)

Also, I was told that it's harder to keep an uncircumcised penis clean/away from infection.
I can tell you from experience that it was/is much harder to clean my son's with the way it is. When he was younger, I had to pull the skin back or else it'd get infected very easily.

I had issues with my son's penis that my friend didn't have with any of her three boys (all circumcised correctly).
