Ok, this is only Target related because of the kind of bags I used to do it, but I made myself a pouch... of sorts. LMAO It's uh... not so pretty, and really simple. Literally just a pouch, no velcro or snaps, or pockets... it's pretty much just like the bottom of a small plastic bag, but made out of plastic bags.
For anyone interested, instead of using wax paper, I used a manila folder, split down the side and at the bottom, and used the seam in the middle as my guide to know where best to iron. I'm sure wax paper is easier, since you can see through it, but I'm too dumb and couldn't figure out which side was the waxy one and which side wasn't. Both put a little residue under my nail when scratched, so I didn't want to risk ruining the iron or the small board I started off using. I'm too embarrassed to post this abomination I just made, so maybe if something else cuter comes out of it, there'll be a Target plastic bag project photo. EEK!
I'm impressed, I wanted to make something, but it was still a pipe dream. But now you've got me motivated to make a coupon holder myself. Is it too thick to put a flap on your coupon holder, and attach some velcro so at least your money, I mean coupons, can't fall out. Like a very small version of the messenger bag. Did you see there is a PDF file of the "template" to make the bag.
And the manila folder, and Nike box......um, not the safest with a hot iron I'm guessing. Sort of like me hanging a window shade yesterday using a chair with wheels on it. Women tend to use what we have nearby. I want instant gratification. I don't like taking an hour to get everthing ready for a 15 minute projectshake head
Best of luck, I need to get some ZZZZ's. I'll follow up on your progress tomorrow.

I was returning some items from an online order the other day and noticed that the cashiers were asking for licenses/IDs and scanning them before processing returns. I've never had this happen before. Did Target just start doing this? What is the purpose?
The scanning ID thing has been going on for awhile. They do it to track the number of returns you do (as well as other info, i'm sure). It skeeves me out that they are gathering all my info so I almost never do returns. Targets return policy SUX. Don't ever do a registry there cuz you will have a hell of a time trying to exchange/return stuff you don't need.

People were talking about using pizza boxes and craft paper to iron on top of, so I figured the manila folder was ok. I didn't see it beginning to singe at all, but was prepared to stop everything if I started to see it turning brown. Granted, it's already manila envelope colored, so that's a start to browning, lol, but it didn't get any darker.

I'm an instant gratification kinda girl myself, hence the Nike box when the mini-ironing board turned out to not be wide enough to get a nice, flat piece. Doing it on something that's only half the width of the plastic you're ironing makes the plastic shrink unevenly and look wonky.

It's really not that thick. I did my pouch by fusing the edges of 3 sides as evenly as possible, and then turning it inside out (or right side out, actually... ) like you would if you were sewing a pillow case, and it was still thin enough to do that with relative ease. You could easily get a flap that folds over and velcros or snaps shut. I haven't done a craft project in yeaaaaaaars, so I don't have any of those kinds of supplies handy anymore, but even with my little crap pouch, if I used some adhesive velcro, I'd have a pretty handy dandy change purse. I couldn't begin to speculate how to get a zipper on it though.

I think I'm gonna take 4 bags, with the front and back side, and fuse them together instead of folding just the one, so that I can get a nice, large piece of "fabric" to work with. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around how to get dividers into the pouch. The more layers, the more heat has to be used to keep fusing the layers together, so that might be tough, especially since I have to fuse the edges of the final thing together since I'm not sewing anything. I might need to re-learn how to hand stitch!

Ok, I gave up on the fused divider idea, lol. I'd be melting waaay too much plastic, and I didn't want to start a fire. That'll be something to try if/when I learn how to sew, ooor if I pick up a wood burning tool or a soldering iron (less likely than me learning how to sew!).

My second try at something resembling an envelope looks kind of like, um, an envelope. LMAO It has a flap that I want to throw a little piece of velcro on, and then it'll actually be functional. It's still just a pouch, but I can actually use this to replace one of the paper envelopes I've been using to hold all my q's in my purse. The paper envelopes have been getting replaced every month or so as they've worn and torn from being dug in all the time. Hopefully this will last longer, and will keep me from using more envelopes than I have to.

It's super primative looking, but it's only my second craft project in probably more than a decade, so go ahead and laugh at me, but don't laugh too hard. Harhar The picture quality stinks because it's my terrible camera phone. First picture is of the outside with the flap closed as much as it'll stay closed without something to anchor it down, second is with the flap open, and the third is with receipts stuffed inside. laugh out loud

Update: I transferred one of my q envelope contents into the new plastic envie, and it all fits just right. Yahoo! Also, normally when I do a run, I grab a scrap of paper, fold it into a makeshift coupon holder, write down my shopping list on the outside, and then stuff all the q's for that run inside so that everything is all together. Since I had scraps of plastic fabric left, I cut them up, made a little simple pouch, added a pocket to the front with another scrap, and now I have a reusuable single-run q holder with the pocket to slip my shopping list into. If I had some of those overhead projector markers around, I was considering using one of the last small scraps as my reusuable shopping list, but I don't have any of those pens handy, so that won't work for now, although I'm not sure if it would have worked anyway. Sometimes those pens soak into surfaces you'd think you could wash them off of.

Uhm so after the 4th temper tantrum during a t run I am turning to you guys.....do you have any tips on how to keep my two year old from freaking out while in the store?? I tried the popcorn trick...worked a couple of times and now she's over it.....she literally makes me not want to shop! She just turned two on the 3rd and I swear to god she turned into a temper tantrum throwing, crying, screaming mess over night!! I'm soooo ready to rip my hair out!!
I feel for ya...My DD was an absolute angelic creature till she turned 2 and then as if by some cruel curse she changed overnight it seemed...She is not really bad at all...I have seen MUCH worse...but I know it is definitely trying especially when you have things you want/must do!! hug

As far as shopping goes..she gets MAD if we don't go (right now she is downright irritated as it has been almost 3 weeks and poor mom is suffering thru a difficult pregnancy and she just doesn't understand how all of a sudden I could deprive her! LMAO )...She loves her Target time and she can't wait to go...if she thinks I am going without her she has a total meltdown...She is a cheap date...the popcorn icee combo keeps her more than content while I do what I gotta do...and she knows if she is good then she usally gets some cheap lil toy or sumpin for her efforts...She is def a shopper tho...startin young..gotta heart her!!

OMG, you have me laughing out of my chair. I seriously didn't think anything would come of your iron, bags & nike box ( you took "just do it" to a whole new level!) LMAO but that turned out nicely!!! I am inspired to make my own bag...and I have a sewing machine that I know how to use. Stick Out Tongue If all turns out ok, I think this is a killer Ebay item!!!!! The novelty of it is priceless!!

Thrifty...I love your signature...but it brang back some frusterations from last night and now I must vent!

I saw a friend last night that I haven't seen in like 5 years...her family is struggling pretty bad money wise right now and I was like wow, she would be the perfect candidate to share my deals with as I am obsessed and dh is pretty tired of hearing about it!

So I start by asking her about her coupon usage....nope, doesnt normally use them...so I start to show her my stockpile(which is pretty small compared to most i'm sure...most of it fits in 1 big box and 2 boxes reams of paper fits into)...and she is just amazed....and she grabs a bottle of he and was like I want this!!! It kind of irritated me....not b/c I don't like to share but b/c she didn't even ask just grabbed it, thought it was kind of rude. So I tell her she can get a bunch of stuff for free or cheap with using q's etc...and she looks at me and just says I'm too lazy...you do it and I'll come get stuff from you...It took all of my strength and willpower to not scream WTF??? at her, but I maintained and just laughed it off. I also gave her some Jane makeup I had gotten for free/cheap from Walgreen's...this time I was smart...I didn't let her little grabby hands near it, just ran in the other room grabbed a couple of things and gave them to her.

So it amazes me that people are more than willing to take my free sh*t but won't put the effort into getting their own.

I am extremely generous and part of the reason my stockpile is so small is I give more away than I keep...I love helping my mom out...and *gasp* she was even going to buy a sunday paper this week!!!

Thanks for all the advice on the kiddo.....today we went to Walgreen's and I had a ton of stuff to get...so i prepared...got a book for her, some milk, a snack, her bear...I was like ok got plenty of stuff for her to do maybe we can make it through this one!!!

Uh no. Thankfully the cashier is my friend...but I had to stop every 30 seconds to say caitlin no! caitlin get back here! caitlin don't touch!! She's not bad per say...she's just really full of energy and is very strong willed.

This week, I ordered from a coupon clipping service that has not been mentioned. Found that they have one of the best prices starting at $0.05 per coupon + a .50 handling charge per order + postage and no minimum order. The order came in 2 days, from the east coast to the midwest.

In my package, there is a referral bonus of $2 credit after your referral placed their 1st order (no limit on how many referrals you can have.)

Please PM me to set up this chain of referrals because I have to give out my name and/or email address. If we all referred each other in a chain, then we all can benefit a little.

I ordered 65 qs @ $0.05 + $0.50 + .58 postage = $4.69 woot
You can refer me. What's the link?

I just PM you with the info.

Wow!! I thought I stumble upon the baby talk lounge. Confused The last 5 pages have been about pregnacy and childbirth. I hope we don't scare away the guys with all this talk.

Men don't understand the pressure and stress with the 9-month process. One time during labor and I was screaming, my DH said, "Don't scream too loud because people are sleeping." Mad It's my right to scream bloody murder... I am the one suffering here...
