We've been "friends" since the 3rd grade..we often go long periods of time without talking...i was her maid of honor in her wedding...so it's kind of hard for me to write off a friendship I've had that long ya know??

Maleficient...here's what ya do.....go shopping with her...and then when she asks for q's....pretend to be surprise and be like "oh did you forget yours...b/c i only have mine" hehehe if only it were that simple right???

Looks like were both kinda screwed..mine is a little more avoidable than yours!! I really don't think people realize the time and effort that is put into this. We don't just walk into stores and walk out with free stuff....it takes ALOT of time and effort....and my dh was not at all happy when I told him what happens. He may not always like the time and effort it takes but he does realize it and he was not happy with her i just want free sh*t attitude.

And I really don't want my kid to pick up bad manners....

I have the Shark, have for two years now and really, really love my steam cleaner. Mine cleans floors (love a steam mop--I will NEVER swiffer again!), counters, windows, sinks, toilets, etc. I've even gotten spilled pancake batter out of couch cushions (don't ask) and kool-aid out of beige carpet using the steamer and a rag. Target sells them too....

And since I've been gone for awhile, let me be the last to say....WHEE!!!!!
{{{{{{Heather}}}}}}}! Haven't talked to you in a while, since I've been gone too, and lots has happened. Messed Up I hope you're doing well!

Not sure how long you have been friends, but I would ditch her in a hurry. I can not tolerate people who take advantage and leech off of others. I really hate it when people do it to me, because we have a large family, I am a college student, and we live off of...$22,000/year...so I do what I can to make it work, use Q's, shop second hand, whatever it takes. So if some lazy @ss came along and tried to mooch off me I would put a stop to it real quick.
WOW! I just want to tell you, you're doing an awesome job! Supporting a family, going to school, and doing it all on a budget is no easy feat, and it's inspiring to know that it CAN be done.

Rock on!

Quote from i luv mickey!!! :
whee - those are awesome - i really need to give that a try!!! guess i could have a lot of trial and error as the target bags are overflowing here! LMAO
Hehe, I figured I had a lot of room for error too with my kitchen drawer pouring out Target bags, but the more I used, the less bags it seemed like I had! I didn't have a ton of patience to keep at it though, so I kept all my unevenly shrunken, weird looking pieces, and did what I could with 'em. laugh out loud

Quote from Maleficent :
Yeah, I agree!

I have a "friend" who is a little like that. She's not so much as my friend, but she's friends with my dad. It's kind of weird, since she's my age.... but whatever, that's not the point.

But she's a little like that - if she came over to my house, she would ask before feeding either her or her children at least.

But I was telling her all about my couponing and targeting, like you were Jen, and I told her maybe once in a while we can get together and do a little shopping there. I don't mind sharing a few coupons with her once in a while, but then she's saying she loves the idea, wants to do it every week. She's like you bring the coupons, and we'll go shopping.

I'm like, are you SERIOUS?! Do you have any idea how much time it takes for me to print, clip and sort all those? Is there a way I can subtly suggest that she do her own couponing, and we can just go shopping together? Something like that? I don't know.

I can't really "sever ties" with her, as she's a friend of my dad's. Like for Easter when we go over to my dad's, her and her kids will be there. Her two girls kind of drive me crazy - she's one of those "free spirit" type of moms that thinks everything the kid does that's bad, oh it's just her "expressing herself." I'm like, how is pulling a hot pan of maccaroni off the stove "expressing herself?" Do something! Tell her no, swat her hand, put her in timeout, something, anything!

And the funny part is, she thinks I'm "too strict." Why, because my kid minds me, and listens when I tell him no? laugh out loud Because I don't let him spread mud or paint all over my house? laugh out loud If you say so.

So what's the best way to avoid going shopping with her? Do I blow it off, say something came up, what? I don't know. She's perfectly nice and everything, just a little odd. (She's into vampirism and permanent body scarring art and a whole bunch of other stuff I don't want to know about) and she is struggling (on food stamps and medicaid and everything) but with all the stuff she does, she would easily be able to do coupons to help her save a lot. I don't really want someone that's gonna mooch all the time. I'm perfectly fine with a give/take relationship, but no the ones where one does all the giving and the other does all the taking. laugh out loud

What do you guys think? At least she's not as rude as Jen's friend (you need to get RID of that one!) but it's a similar sticky situation.
Oy vey. I would take your "friend" shopping, let her use a few q's, and let her see ALLLL the q's you're using, and then casually mention that it's a LOT of work and time, and ink, and cutting in order to get your own runs ready, so you put together what you could for her. Then in the same breath, tell her that she should definitely pay attention to the Sunday paper coupons and the printable sites so that she can come in and shop with you, the same way you shop. Then mention again how many hours it took you to do your own. laugh out loud Only a seriously selfish person would hear you say all that and still suggest or expect that you do it for them also. And if she still says, "Zou bring the coupons, I'll come shopping," then ask her to pitch in $15-$20 to you because buying the coupons and printing with the ink usage costs money. Stick Out Tongue

Quote from Thrifty-n-SoCal :
I barely had time to fuse the bags together. It ended up being a long night...our water heater broke and starting spewing water all over the garage. Thank goodness DD caught it shortly after it started.
Yay! At least you got the bags fused, and that's a great start. I'm really looking forward to seeing your project done on a sewing machine!

I had quite a lot of overage left today that I didn't anticipate having (they didn't have the organzer I had factored into my run), so I almost picked up a sewing machine just for this craft thing, but I thought better of it and got a gc instead because I haven't done a gc run in a long time, and didn't really want to putter around Target anymore (EEK! ... what has come over me?!). Next time, I might pick up one of the small Shark machines that I saw on target.com, since it'll pack away nicely and I don't anticipate using it much.

Thanks Jen and whee - will rep you for the help when I get a chance later today. Smilie

Some good tips - I'll see what I can do with it. I'm in the same frame of mine as you Jen - I don't want a moocher, and I definitely don't want my son picking up habits from her girls!

Thanks. Smilie

My MIL has been cutting off the handles and taking super size crochet hook and turning her bags into floor mats for kids to sit on at the camp she works for. I keep thinking I should do something, but right now I recycle and use them as garbage bags.

I feel like I am crafty enough since I sew 90% off my kids clothes and sell crochet work online. Then there is scrapbookingRoll Eyes (Sarcastic)

I would never set foot in Wally world if Target would just add yarn to there stock! I thought Target was getting competitve when they added sewing machines, needles and thread, but nope, just catering to the very basic, mom that has to put together a costume for school type sewer.

I saw people on ebay selling crocheted plastic bag bags, and seriously thought about buying one. For $15 or so though, I can't imagine it's all that lucrative for them, but then again, if it's a gigantic hook, I'm guessing it probably doesn't take that long to make (I wouldn't know... the most I ever learned how to crochet was when I was a kid and I made biiiig, loooong chains with my mom's leftover yarn Stick Out Tongue). Does your MIL tie the ends of the bags together or something? I was trying to figure out how they attached all the different bags together to get them to be like a continuous piece of yarn.

This is completely off topic for target but I just finished one of those messenger bags for my husband complete with seatbelt and all. I'll have to see if I can get him to upload a pic!!! It definently was a process and I burnt many a trash bag, but it ended up looking really cool. I couldn't get a seat belt from the junk yard because they said I would have to take it offConfused Confused Confused yeah, I can sew....but taking off a seat belt has me stumped! You all should try it though, it was fun!

I am 32 and have one that is 2 and one that is 1 (they are 18 months apart) and we are trying again. I LOVED being pregnant the first time, it was sooo easy. The second time I had Gall Bladder attacks (but got that organ removed, so I am ready to do it again).

All you wondering what to do with all those Target shopping bags you have lying around the house. Watch this, see if you find the target bags!!!

Thanks, that was awesome to watch, I am not going to do anything with it, but enjoyed watching it all the same.

Uhm so after the 4th temper tantrum during a t run I am turning to you guys.....do you have any tips on how to keep my two year old from freaking out while in the store?? I tried the popcorn trick...worked a couple of times and now she's over it.....she literally makes me not want to shop! She just turned two on the 3rd and I swear to god she turned into a temper tantrum throwing, crying, screaming mess over night!! I'm soooo ready to rip my hair out!!
I have the oposite problem, my 2.5 year old cannot cound well, but she knows where Target and CVS are and wants to go shopping every single day! DH gets irritated with me, so now I say ok we can go shopping, but you have to count to 10 first. tee hee! LMAO

Quote from sillygeese :
So sorry, mine did this when they turned 3. I just ignore it, literally, I speak softer and ignore it. If the kid is in the cart, I move to the end of the cart and pull it, if they where on the floor I would stare at the shelf and pretend to not look, watching from the side of my eye of course. after a few times of being ignored they stopped. Remind yourself it is a phase, sometimes chanting "I LOVE MY KID, I LOVE MY KID" helpsBig Grin Fellow shoppers seem to get a kick out of the chanting anyway, LOL.
OMG that is the funniest thing I have read in a LONG time, I will have to try this when mine act up in public!

Quote from Mom_Of_5 :
I just skimmed throught the last few pages and my new mommy advice is, don't read the book Belly Laughs. Actually, it is a really funny book, but I could have lived with out knowing that sometimes women poop while giving birth. I read it before my last baby, and I was scared "$hitless" during my whole labor that I would poop everywhere. lol. I didn't, but it was stressful!
I pooped with one and not the other. When you finally get to delivery you just don't care anymore, at least I didn't!

Quote from Maleficent :
Actually, my midwives told me that your body knows when it's about to go into labor, and most times your body will want to go not long before you go into labor, so it doesn't really happen that often that a woman will have an "accident" when she's giving birth. laugh out loud
I think this has a lot to do with going into labor on your own. I was induced both times and never had end stage 'purging' like a lot of people get.

I was returning some items from an online order the other day and noticed that the cashiers were asking for licenses/IDs and scanning them before processing returns. I've never had this happen before. Did Target just start doing this? What is the purpose?
I just made a return yesterday and was not asked for this Confused

Oh, as far as the license/ID thing goes, they may have asked you because you were returning something you purchased online. If you saw them asking others, they may have been returning items without a receipt.

Other than that, I just returned something last night and wasn't asked for my ID. I wasn't asked earlier in the week when I returned stuff I was overcharged for either.

Hi. I stopped by here just to tell Whee I'm impressed by her creations. I've just been recycling mine at the grocery store but I may think twice about the next round.

I always post my coupons in chit chat and they usually get taken. I actually have a pile right next to me, I really should go through them and make another list.

There is an official trading thread somewhere in SD Land. I don't know the exact link.

Then once you find it and make your trade list, be sure to add the post link to your siggy so people will click on it just out of curiosity and you will be surprised how many people might respond. I found some great coupons to trade that way lately with a guy I have traded with before.
