I didn't get a chance to catch up yet, just started on the deal thread. But I had to come here after reading just 2 pages (476 & 477) and scream! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Ok, now I feel a little better and can go back to reading the same questions over and over and over and over!!!! (Why do people say they have been reading the thread but ask the same question that has been asked 15 times in the last 2 pages???)

Sorry, for the rant. Will be back here to catch up shortly!Smilie

I was guilty there. I normally do read before I post, but was posting about my run so didn't bother, ALTHOUGH I never claimed to have read the post before asking Wink

lucky for me i quit my job just in time. nod
my first monday of unemployment and here i am - made $10 at cvs and $50 at target today. not too shabby. Cool
dh actually went with me to the last store (only because i promised him a free smoothie Stick Out Tongue). they ended up not having smoothie or breadsticks stuff so he had to do without until tomorrow. laugh out loud
I bribed my teenager into going with me with promises of a smoothie and breadsticks. He said he will go with me on all my Target runs from now on!

And on the Aquafor, it really is great stuff. I used to work in Radiation Oncology and we always put it on radiation burns which are really really bad and it worked great. Its one of those things I keep around just to have it.

I did 3 Target runs yesterday, and 7 CVS trips, ugghhh so tired

These were some of my favorite gifts and they held up through using them with all 3 kids. You can personalize the burp cloths by buying a small amount of cute ribbon and sewing a couple of strips length wise (along where the pieces are sewn together). Some people just stencil some baby details (with paint) on the ends. I can posts pics if that would help.
I would LOVE pics if you have them. If there's something crafty that doesn't involve sewing, that'd be good too, since I don't know how to, lol. It's on my list of things to teach myself in the upcoming months though. Just need to get to Target and get a sewing machine. I bought a crappy $19.99 Shark, and the needle got stuck after 5 minutes. I took it back because I didn't want to snap it, but I did manage to figure out how to use a sewing machine and get all the crap all set up.... sort of. laugh out loud

Quote from abactasca03 :
So I posted something before, but I got to thinking the last day or so about this. I was trying to come up with a really cool gift, one that no one would think of and that would be used. This may sound silly, but I would have loved it if someone would have given me one bottle of every different type of bottle. I ended up buying so many different types of bottles to figure out which one worked the best for my little one. It would have been nice to have one of each to try out of him.
OMG, that's a fantastic idea! Thank you very much! I was going to stay away from Target for the rest of the week, but now I want to go and pick some up, just for this idea... and she's not due until August, lol. I don't have any place to put them for the next 4 months, so maybe I should hold off though. laugh out loud I have, however, already started getting diapers for them. I brought 2 boxes over, but I think I'll save the rest for a gift. I didn't realize how few diapers new moms received. I'd like to bowl her over with like 10 boxes of sz. 3's (that *is* the size they stay in longest, right? I'm pretty sure I was paying attention to all Jimmy's posts about diaper sizing, hehe).

Quote from lovemyboys :
hi, for the baby gift idea. My friend really liked the idea I did for her. I got a laundry basket. Put a clothes line inside and clipped with clothes pins to the line was one outfit in each size from newborn up to 2T. She got lots of little clothes but none of the bigger sizes. I folded it so the newborn was on top when she lifted it out. It was about 8 feet when it was done. She took pictures of it stretched across her living room.
That sounds really adorable!

Thank you guys for all the ideas. I just finally got done reading them all since I've been neglecting the Lounge thread, but in my sleeplessness, I've had time to catch up.

On the subject of Target (sort of), would anyone be interested in trading some Reynolds $2 off Handi Vac MFQ's for some Pantene B2G1 Target peelies? I've been to 4 stores... tons of Pantene... ZERO peelies. Rather than driving 40 minutes on a hit-or-miss peelie hunt, I thought maybe someone might want to trade. Or if you don't need the Reynolds and you have some peelies to spare (though I suspect people will be hoarding these like mad Frown), maybe we can work something else out? PM me if you wanna. Got it! Thanks, drozee! Hug2

And thanks again to everyone who chimed in on the baby thing. I think it might be cathartic to continue forcing myself into the baby section to pick up things for the happy couple, and I'm excited to be able to give a nice gift (of inexpensive stuff from Target woot lol) of thoughtful and useful items. Hugs all around!

I empathize w/u.hug There are never enough hours in the day! I am staying up way too late to catch up .EEK! I have read that Kukio oil is great for skin issues such as the one you are dealing with. It is costly. I have used it and really liked it. I got it in Hawaii. It was not cheap there either but well worth it since it worked fast. I used a combination of gel from an aloe plants leaves and this oil.It helped heal my sunburned skin and sore dry feet faster than other stuff..nod This info is from a google search:
"Is Kukui oil safe for babies?
Yes, Kukui oil is a natural product and it is safe for babies. It helps erase cradlecap and soothes diaper rash. Our co-workers baby had eczema and she used our shampoo as a baby wash and during the day she applied Kukui lotion when his skin looked dry. Another mother uses Kukui oil for her childs eczema during the day when hes awake and eating his fingers and scratching. She used the doctors prescription ointment at night."

The oil is said to be better than the lotion. My mom has to have a cortisone shot 2 or so x per yr.. She knows it is not good to have that many but says the alternative is worse. She does like this oil but does not use it often enough per her. Becoming a vegetarian did not solve her problem either. She takes benedryl a lot. It makes her sleep well at night too. Smilie Some say drinking aloe vera juice is helpful . Try George's brand if you do that since it has no taste. It is like water. Many are very very bitter. I get mine at Whole Foods. I have not seen any for sale at T.

HTHhug
Thank you!! I will defiantely look into this too. And no....there are never enough hours in the day. shake head

My son has eczema too. He's had it since he was one month old. I aquafore him up each day. When it's bad I do it twice. Then when it's really bad, I use hydrocortizone cream. That stuff knocks it out withing a couple hours. My doctor said not to use it a ton, because of the steroids in it (not sure what the steroids do) but when he gets bad I put some on him and he clears right up.
The steroids can really thin the skin, if its overused. And especially on baby skin, you have to be careful. I was always super light on the application, but it still did its job.

Quote from Devilmomma :
Thanks for the tips! I have used hydrocortizone on occasion when he's really bad, but he gets it all over (mostly his back and thighs) so it takes a lot of the hydrocortizone to lube him down.

Thanks for the tips! I'm gonna try the Aveeno too.

It is getting expensive. I used to get it on sale, without a q, for 50 cents. Not anymore. All the groceries are getting ridiculously priced anymore. shake head
If you Google a recipe for an oatmeal bath, I think that works just the same as buying the Aveeno stuff. I did it for my daughter - she got the Fifth disease, also known as slapped cheek disease. Basically its irritating hives all over the body and goes away after 5 days or so hopefully. Smilie Anyway, I just did a regular Quaker oatmeal bath for her and it worked absolute wonders. Stopped the itching on the hives, stopped the redness, everything. One of those old wives' remedies that has truly stood the test of time! nod

Now why didn't I know about that when my hubby was having radiation?! Course he didn't get burned real bad (radiation was directed at his chest area, so just lost all his chest hair for a couple weeks Smilie) but it did get real dry and a bit irritated. Hmmm... well, I would say good to know for next time, but here's hoping there's NOT a next time! Two year tests were a couple months ago and he came back cancer-free! Yay! Thought we could go to every other year testing, but oncologist still wants every 6 months. Hubby wasn't happy to hear that, as it involves the CT scan with contrast - he hates drinking that stuff and I don't blame him.

Anyway, that was WAY off topic, but oh well! Big Grin

OK, so I just found out we're going to a Super Target tonight, a BRAND NEW one about 25 minutes away, so now I need to come up with a shopping list! Yay! So excited about this, can you tell?! Only other ST around me is 15 mins away and I rarely get to it, as its not near any of my others "haunts".

Thanks! Its amazing - we really were blessed with a pretty easy road when it came to his cancer. The only thing hard about it, looking at it from this end, was the timing. He was diagnosed 4 days before my due date with our first baby. And to top it off, it was testicular cancer, so we were facing the possibility that this would be the only baby we could have. Frown Not fun. He had surgery 2 days before my due date, and then our baby was born 10 days later. He found out the day we were released from the hospital that the cancer had spread into his lymph nodes and he would have to have radiation. Even then, the radiation, although he had the highest dosage of it, didn't knock him out, just made him lose his appetite for a while.

Anyway, doctor said it would be at least 6 months before he would be "fertile" again, but guess what?!? SURPRISE! Found out we were expecting way before then. How amazing is technology, that the radiation can be so precise it kills cancer cells but not reproductive abilities?

Anyway, God is good and we are now back to full health. The funny thing is when guys find out about his cancer, they always get so nervous, asking him exactly what to look for, etc. Basically, if one is significantly bigger than the other, get it checked out. Big Grin There is NO pain or discomfort at all, so don't look for that.

Just thought y'all would want to know that! Big Grin
