Reece Shearsmith (League of Gentlemen) who also played Second Doctor Patrick Troughton in An Adventure in Time and Space will be in a season 9 DW episode.


Strax from the Paternoster Gang gets a one-off, audio drama with Jago and Litefoot.

"Played by Christopher Benjamin and Trevor Baxter, Jago and Litefoot were created by scriptwriter Robert Holmes and made their first Doctor Who appearance opposite Fourth Doctor Tom Baker in 1977 story The Talons of Weng-Chiang. They were reunited by Big Finish over 30 years later, going on to collaborate on a string of dramas with a tenth series due for release this October."

Edit: 'The Doctor's Finest' premiers Aug. 15, with interviews and new footage from previous episodes. You might need to set up a new pass if you DVR Doctor Who, as the title doesn't include 'Who' in it.

I am watching through Doctor Who for the first time and liking it so far. I was thinking about watching Torchwood after I am done with Doctor Who. Is it any good?

I really enjoyed Torchwood, even though it's not as good as DW, it's a good show in it's own right. But you're doing the right thing by watching DW first, then Torchwood as there could be some DW spoilers on Torchwood due to the overlapping characters and events.

Where Torchwood went wrong was at the end, I did not enjoy the last season (Miracle Day), when the US Starz channel took over the show, as much as the previous seasons. But not everyone has that view.

Thanks Smilie I am only at episode 11 of season 2 of DW, so I still have a while to go to get through the series. But I think Torchwood will be next on my list.

I was hoping Torchwood would give more info about Captain Jack, but it really didn't. I went into it hoping for more tie-ins with Doctor Who, and it didn't deliver for me in that way. It was more adult than I was expecting, too. Which is fine, but I wasn't really ready for it since I was used to the family friendly feel of Doctor Who.

The last two seasons are quite different. I like how they had an overall story throughout, but it was weird.

Neat! Saw a license plate in my town last week that read "TARDIS W". Last year I saw a blue Tardis Mini Cooper it was amazing.

Looks like some of the Doctor's Finest segments are on the BBCA youtube channel [youtube.com].

Getting excited to have something to watch on television again.
