I changed the name of the thread because I think that Q's CVS Lounge gives a better representation of what the thread is about. This isn't a deals thread although I will sometimes be posting deals. I'll probably talk more about Transylvania and the stock market than I will about the drugstores but the main thing is that is that I want this to be a cool place to hang out.

It wasn't really a bad day, just too hot. Bad sales are part of the game so I don't get too freaked out about that. I didn't sell any of the cat food at a quarter but I was sort of expecting that. Cat food is an extremely poor seller. I'll probably keep a few in case a stray cat wonders over and donate the rest. I'm glad it was a mm at least.

So I'm looking at SBUX and HAWK for next week. Starbucks is already past IBD's buy point and Blackhawk reports earnings on Tuesday after market close. IBD says that the market is on a confirmed uptrend but that's not my take.

i used to work at a clothing chain and i used see one of my old colleagues periodically for years after. at one point they made all the mgrs write a 500 word essay why they should keep their job. he wasn't having any of that so he switched divisions, to their lower end line of stores. i would see him periodically when i went in his store to use the bathroom. i think that store didn't really make any money b/c the rent was so high but everybody knew to go there to use the bathroom. there and starbucks. then he transferred to another store and i never saw him again.

i just found him on fb. and he's friends w/ another old time employee. hmmm, found some other people. my long time DM just moved to Victorinox and my RM recently moved to Brighton Collectibles from childrens place after working for 25 yrs where we had all worked together. the world has shrunk w/ fb and linkedin.

I'm so not a computer person. I've never been on twitter. I only joined FB because a friend asked me to but I have no idea how to use it. My phone isn't even charged half of the time.

Yeah, HAWK looks like a winner and they could have a huge earnings beat. They passed the buy point on Friday before they went back down a little bit. I just don't know about the market. I think the escalator is going down but the yo-yo is going up. It's very dangerous to invest in this situation. If I thought that the escalator was going up, I wouldn't hesitate with HAWK.

The market is like an escalator. It trends up or it trends down. The daily fluctuations are like a person on the escalator with a yo-yo. The yo-yo can be up but the escalator can be doing down. You have to identify the trend. I think we're going into a bear market and the yo-yo had a good 5 days last week.

Well it seems to me there is plenty of bad news. My biggest concern is that the debt-ceiling won't be raised. The last time congress played this game it wasn't good for the market.

If you need lipstick, CVS is the place. Revlon was free or a mm all day. Look for the $3 pink peelie.

My cost at Target for 10 Febreze sprays was $3.23. Look for a $1 Febreze q in the Crest bonus packs at RA.

Dove women's body wash also counts for the $10/$30 deal. I did a deal today just to check it out but I'm hoping for a body wash crt tomorrow.

I did the $5/$10 Colgate deal x 2 and got $10 ecb's. My tracking was at $19.96 with $.04 needed (but the $10 printed due to the 98% rule). I did another transaction and my tracking changed to $19.00 and $1.00. All I can say is that CVS better fix this quickly because there's an obvious problem that isn't good for CVS...

Also, the Maybelline single eye shadows aren't tracking for the deal even though the ad says all cosmetics (except clearance). The mascara is tracking.

They said on the news that the lowest average price for gas in the country was in Charleston, SC @ $1.92 a gallon. The highest price was in (you guessed it) Los
Angeles @ $2.96...

There's some earthquake conference on Oct 15. I think they're calling it LA Rocks or something dumb like that...
