Q's CVS Lounge

I changed the name of the thread because I think that Q's CVS Lounge gives a better representation of what the thread is about. This isn't a deals thread although I will sometimes be posting deals. I'll probably talk more about Transylvania and the stock market than I will about the drugstores but the main thing is that is that I want this to be a cool place to hang out.

what Febreze products are you getting to get $5 gift cards

Yep, I've had those same 2 issues over and over again. I'm doing 10 Febreze at a time. The good thing is that they're so focused on the bogo's that they don't care about the 3 $1.50/2's.

I'm doing the sprays

10 x $2.99 = $29.90
- $3.29 (bogo) x 4
- $1.50/2 x 3
= $12.24 and get 2 $5 GC's
or $.22 ea.

Your worst case scenario is around $.65 a spray if everything goes against you. It's still a buy for me since it's an easy flip at $1.50 to $2. The Glade holiday stuff went on clearance. I think it's at 30% off.

So, I was setting up all my Febreze and Iams on the stairs for an awesome FB pic (should get lots of "likes"). Just as I was setting up my last can of Febreze on the top stair, I knocked another can down and it started an avalanche. ChiChi, my chiwawa, was at the bottom of the stairs when one of the pumpkin cans hit her in the head and stunned her. Then all the Iams came tumbling down and flattened her like a pancake. I'm outraged that they don't make bags of Iams that can be posed safely on the stairs. Someone needs to pay for ChiChi's vet bills! Should I call corporate and complain?

Poor Chi Chi. Yes, I'd call corporate. They'll probably give you free dog food for a year. I know, I know... Target already does that. laugh out loud

Got screwed at Target tonight. Just wanted to get 2 Iams and 6 Febreze. I hand over the Iams IP, cashier reads it carefully, and decided I can only use 1 since it is "1 per purchase." No use arguing, so I tell her to take it off. Then she scans Febreze coupon and screen comes up where they have to type in price. She thinks the computer is rejecting the coupon and decides I can't use those ones either. So I drove to Target in the rain and left empty handed.....and wet.
Annoyed why didn't you bring the coupon policy with you? you need to train the cashiers not only for you, but for all couponers.

What is the difference between "per purchase" and "per transaction" when using coupons? [target.com]

One coupon per purchase means you're using one coupon per item being purchased. You can use multiples of the same coupon as long as each coupon has a matching item.

One coupon per transaction means you can use only one specific coupon per store transaction. You can't use more than one same coupon, even if you're buying multiple items.

I don't think it has much to do with the perception of selling junk food. The problem is that the prices are high, the service is terrible, and the food is blah. I remember the days when McDonald's fries were the best and they deep fried the apple pies. If they offered the choice of those unhealthy tasties, they might be able to lure back some of the working class guys who now get their unhealthy tasties from gas stations.
business articles have been full of sentiments like this regarding mcdonalds for several years now-

"The company's sales are been hurt by the fact that consumers are willing to spend more money at chains like Chipotle Mexican Grill (CMG [investorguide.com]) and Panera Bread (PNRA [investorguide.com]) that sell items for higher prices but promote a perception of healthy and high-quality food.

Clearly, the company is struggling. To make matters worse, many of the company's health-driven additions to the menu haven't been successful. Due to McDonald's brand perception, health-conscious consumers always prefer to eat at chains like Chipotle. "

McDonald's stock right now is at an all time high while many of the fast food stocks have recently fallen. Sonic is going up on an anticipation of an earnings beat on Monday. Shake Shack stock got up to the mid 90's but has now fallen to the low 40's. There's something about McDonalds where you keep on going back even though the food isn't very good. For me, it was when they lowered the soft drinks to $1 a couple of years ago. All day breakfast may have the same impact although the price of an Egg McMuffin is way too expensive for me.
i really only go to mcdonalds for 1.00 coffee, hot or iced. i used to also for 1.00 sweet tea, but after a few times i stopped b/c i normally drink unsweetened and it just tasted like sugar water.

i prefer to go to burger king for whopper or whopper juniors and onion rings.

but usually i only go to fast food or fast casual once in awhile b/c of the convenience and because i have a coupon. otherwise i'd rather pack a salad or sandwich from home because they are expensive w/o q's and not healthy. even chipotle, which is one of the healthiest choices can easily be extremely high in calories.

and if i do go to fast food, i usually like to just get the bogo sandwiches and skip the fries and get a cup of water.

costco has recently stopped giving out cups for free water and now charges .25 for bottled water from the vending machines. BOO!

There's no place to put it. My wallet is already overstuffed with store cards and gift cards. Big Grin But I sure do like that clarification in their policy. Maybe one of these days I'll bookmark it on my phone.

For me, couponing is like gambling. Except it is not "win some, lose some." It's "win most of the time, lose once in awhile." For me, it's less stressful and less dramatic to just let it go and go back the next day and win. And sure enough, I killed it today. The added bonus is that while I remember that cashier, she doesn't remember me.

BK is too expensive for me and Chipotle is so overrated. You can get much better Mexican food for less. When I lived in the South Bay there were so many good Mexican places. Chipotle doesn't even give you free chips...

omg, screenshot!

until last yr, i only had an overpriced target and staples that i could really go back to the next day and i'd rather go to the further but cheaper targets. otherwise, it's at least a gallon of gas round trip or more, so i usually only go shopping maybe once a week or less. the cost of gas usually makes it not worth it to go back. so i usually come prepared and stand my ground. it usually only happens once every 6 months or less.

you probably could have just done missed q's at customer service on the way out the door and saved yourself another trip to target.

So here's my best Dove deal at CVS. I'm going to round the figures. You may be able to save more with S*.

Dove women's bw $9.00
Dove women's bw $4.50
Dove men's bw $6.50
Dove men's bw $3.25
Dove men's bw $6.50
- $5.50 (bogo) x 2
- $1 Dove women's bw q x 2
- $2 Dove men's bw q
- $2.50/$11 bw crt (prints on most cards)
= $12.25 and get $10 ecb's

transaction is beepless - coupon order doesn't matter

BK almost only w/ q's, usually bogo. same w/ mcd's.

the only fast food, fast casual alternative to chipotle here w/in 20 minutes is taco bell. laugh out loud

and we only got chipotle last yr.

we don't even have taco trucks.

otherwise it's either chili's or on the border. and one of the 2 chili's is turning into a buffalo wild wings.

If I'm taking my nephew surfing, then BK is great with the bogo but if I'm by myself shopping I don't want 2 whoppers.

If your options are Chipotle and Taco Bell then by all means Chipotle... laugh out loud
