Q's CVS Lounge

I changed the name of the thread because I think that Q's CVS Lounge gives a better representation of what the thread is about. This isn't a deals thread although I will sometimes be posting deals. I'll probably talk more about Transylvania and the stock market than I will about the drugstores but the main thing is that is that I want this to be a cool place to hang out.

Watched the Lesnar interview with Stone Cold. Sounds like Lesnar is basically punching a clock for the WWE but that's
cool. That's what shopping is these days - punching a clock...

CVS is 14.6% off at cardcash which beats the ebay deal. I know that some people don't like cardcash but I've never had a problem. Cardcash was awesome at RA so far this week. 23% off. If you're doing a deal where you have no points and are spending $50 to make $50, cardcash is going to save you an extra $12. That's substantial.

I looked at Joey but my Qs were for adult entrees. I got one meal with a big steak & we shared it
He got the mashed tatoes and we shared veggies
made salads -I've been saving the last red pepper & tomato from the garden
and some soup.
I was going to make baked tatoes in the crockpot but forgot. I have a bag of organic ones and am potato challenged when it comes to cooking them. Baked MAY come out right, but I'm usually waiting for them to finish cooking while the rest of the meal gets cold. So good mashed are a treat for him.

get extra gas points for GC purchases on one of my Safeway cards, so I got a GC and went to Outback to place my order in person, telling the guy I'd be back in 45min-hr. He'd already put it in without asking me when I'd pick up! Told me it would be ready in 15min.
then DH had a carpool problem & had to take light rail, which made him 15min after I expected. It was still kind of warm when we got home but that was annoying.

His present was a bag of Pumpkin Snaps from Sprouts. I didn't even do a card this year.

We have Discover & I get CVS GC as my rewards. Hubs orders $50 GCs 2-3 times a year for me. I can't make $ at CVS anymore -and get anything we might use - but the GCs at least keep me from having to spend from our budget.

101 is that P thing (the same both ways) which is why the east-west joke. As far as it being jammed, it depends on where you're at and what time it is. Traffic was just starting to get bad when I got off. I was debating the last CVS but I finished quickly enough to where I missed getting tied up.

The last GC's I got on ebay were a scam but paypal refunded me right away. I have no idea why people have a negative attitude about cardcash but that's really your best option. Maybe it's the 45 day thing but I go through GC's like gasoline (due to sales tax). It's $100 in tax for every $1000 you spend so I can easily use up $500 in GC's in a week on "free" transactions.

Wow, no P&G insert this week. That means a week gap on most P&G q's. I'm looking at Nivea, Eucerin, and Loreal q's in the paper. Deals on all 3 on Saturday but it means going to 3 stores x's however many papers I get. Not sure that it's worth it.

What an insane week with the stock market. First there was Weight Watchers and the Oprah effect. The stock was sitting at $5 a share until Oprah announced that she was buying 10% of the company and the shares shot up to $14. The next day they went into the 19's. Today they dropped back to the 15's. Tesla got slammed by Consumer Reports and the stock crashed. Citron put Valeant Pharmaceuticals in their sights and the stock got as low as $80 today (from a $270 high in July). Valeant looks like a very bad company from what I read. Absolutely screwing people with drug prices and setting up fake drug companies to increase profits. Chipotle stock fell and the all-day breakfast rollout at McDonalds has been a bomb. IBM crashed. Then, of course, there's the Wal-Mart crash from last week. Tomorrow has a big batch of earnings including Amazon.

imo, walmart is over. it used to be the only game in many towns, but w/ the growth of online shopping that's no longer the case. and their online site is such a mess w/ all the 3rd party sellers. it's just so annoying. and who buys from them anyway when they are so expensive. they should have been pushing in-store pickup a long time ago. it's going to be a mature stock and then if they aren't careful it become and will go the way of woolworth's. anybody remember them? although i was sad to see woolworth's go as it is the go to place when you need something right away for a decent price. woolworth's didn't die, it lives on as foot locker. i suppose it's doing ok for what it is. my neighbor's dd dropped $100 on nike huaraches just last month.

I just placed an order with Walmart and was surprised that they didn't have in store pickup. I guess they only do for items that are in stock/sold in stores?

Foot Locker is a very interesting stock. I also don't see much hope for WM. Kohls stock is around $45 now down from around $70. Macy's is also tanking. It's been a long time since I've thought about Woolworths. The last time I was in one was 1987 at the Ala Moana Mall in Oahu.

I recently ordered something not in store, and had it shipped to store where I picked it up. It was an item not carried in store, so they do have store pick up for items not in store, but it was a few days later for pick up.
