I did, it also worked GREAT!!!
I did end up buying 1 more excedrin then I needed, then right after the coupons and before I paid, I decided I needed to take the *extra* excedrin off my order. Didn't have enough $
I guess a couple ladies were smashing and grabbing around town all week, which was bad enough to them, but I guess some of the IPs ended up being questionable on top of that or something. Either way they are hoping cutting out the IP all together will curb the issue.
Oh, that really sucks!!!

I have a good amount to donate and want to know how to go about it. Did you all make lists out of what you had and how much each item costs?? Did you have to keep your receipts? Sorry if this sounds dumb, just trying to figure it all out.
TIA

You can deduct the RETAIL price of each and every item. Not what you paid for it. It's just like if you donated an old pair of jeans. Say you paid $100 for them. So what? You only get to claim 4.99 because that is what they are worth. What you are doing with donating the shampoo, and stuff is the opposite. You paid hardly anything or nothing, and you can deduct the retail value $3.49 or whatever, because that is what it is worth.
I tell my clients to document everything they donate and what the VALUE of the items are (again, not what they paid for it). When you take the donation to the organization, get a thank you letter from them acknowledging the gift (have them itemize it out if you want), and you tell them what the value is so they can include that in the thank you letter. And one last thing I recommend is taking a digi picture of the stuff and save those files on a flash drive or something so you have a visual record that your stuff was brand spanking new when you donated it, in case the IRS fusses over whether it was new or not.
There's more, but this covers the gist of it. You can save your receipts if you want, but it is pretty easy to validate the cost of a bottle of Herbal Essences Shampoo, etc.
It's not rocket science and it is a good way to reduce your tax liability. I should mention, you have to be itemizing to use this. If you take standard deduction you are out of luck.

One thing I like to do with the mission my church runs is to get my total figured up and I email it to the church secretary and I let her know I'm dropping the stuff off tomorrow. She will then take me on my honor and mail to me the thank you letter.
Same thing could work with a different organization. At least if you were able to contact them ahead (by email) of time, they could have the receipt or thank you letter ready for when you get there. Just think of ways to make it easier or more streamlined. Then you will be more willing and eager to do it.
Another thing that is handy is the Deduction Pro software that H & R Block sells. I don't know if it is ok for me to post links like that on SD, but I am sure if you google it you can find it. If not, pm me. There is a free download on the web you can put on your computer to track your itemized deductions, including medical. There is also a value finder thing on it that you can figure out what those pairs of blue jeans were worth that you want to donate, etc.

Just so you know, this is a good strategy at WAG but not necessary w/the Excedrin coupons as they are 992s. The 992s will scan even if they are $.01 over the price of the item. Just like the Zantac Qs from a few weeks ago-- the 992 Q scanned while the other one didn't, when the Q was $5 and the item was $4.99.
