I'm sure it's been mentioned and buried but extended warranty benefit goes away next month which sucks
Uhh yeah I have an Amex, this is not true lol
I'm sure citi fought hard in the bidding process to beat Amex to get the Costco account. Part of the terms were probably to offer better benefits for the customer....

This is a major bummer! I suppose I can use Costco Visa for dining out and Sallie Mae master card for Amazon purchases.
Well, this will be my plan as well...I have the Citi Forward and use it pretty infrequently anyway as I also have the Sallie Mae card (got in right before they stopped offering it). I wonder how long it will be before they make changes to that card. Oh well, guess I'll sign up for a Costco Citi card (I'm a Costco employee but I never bothered to go for the AMEX as the benefits were kinda blah).

while AMEX got greedy on benefits i do not think Citi card will be better. They will cut all benefits to the same level AmEX did in 1 year. All customer service will be in India (if you are patient enough to reach them). we had Citi card long ago and were very happy to get rid of it.
Costco has a multi-year contract so the benefits will be the same for a long time.

do I need to cancel amex costco before 6.20?
Don't cancel your Costco AmEx unless you don't want the new Costco Visa with the same credit limit. If you cancel your Costco AmEx, you won't get the Costco Visa automatically and will have to apply for it (with a hard credit pull and possibly different credit limit when you do.)

For those that have a Costco AmEx, the only reason not to get the Visa is if you hate Citi so much you'd rather forego the extra benefits for a different Visa. Otherwise, use the Costco Visa when it gives you the best rewards, which, no matter the card you have would have to be at least some of the time.

All American Express OPEN Business cards are serviced by US based reps.
If you want to call in and speak to an American everytime get one of those cards.

With regard to credit pulls and affect on scores, will the Amex account show as a closed account on a credit report? If so would it be setup so that closed account doesn't factor into a FICO score?

not sure if anyone answered. but two things. from an article I believe from costco or Amex and from the phone rep. I saw that citi is buying the portfolio of credit users, which is why you can carry your balance over to the new card. you may get a credit card/number but it will count as continued credit history with no breaks or closures.

are you sure there is no credit check? the rep I spoke to told me the credit account goes to citi and we get that card with no credit pull. however, for getting an Amex card it would be a new card and thus there would be a pull.

I got a new blue from amex...or w.e a clear card with a blue square is called. I told them I wanted to keep an account open with them after the costco portfolio transferred. They pulled up my file, asked me a few questions, told me there would be no hard or soft pull, and matched my current costco credit limit. =) I use that card all the time now

People seem to forget how crappy citi got with their credit cards... anyone remembered the Citi Amex from years ago with 3x on all purchases for the first 2 years? Back then, citi thankyou points actually meant something... 90k ty points for RT first class ticket in the US worth up to $2700. Now those points are really lame. Citi will also cancel your cards for non-use.

I'd take American express CS any day...

if that's the case then I will talk to them again. I was told in Jan that there would be a credit pull. I keep getting the promo for a pre approved clear blue square card with $300 promo CB. I didn't want a credit pull because I just got a line for a car and am planning on refinancing soon.

Stop crying after Amex..I went to new Zeeland NOBODY was accepting Amex, I went to Hong Kong ONLY 1 vendor at the airport was taking Amex, same with Europe

Amex is garbage and greedy with the highest vendor fee the reason nobody take Amex

amex used to Bill the merchant additional $7 or higher a month for accepting AMEX. also high interchange fee. Recently, amex bundle with visa, MC, discover card. I'm sure more people will accept AMEX.

So there will be no benefit to having Executive membership vs standard membership other than saving the extra $50 in membership fees?

Are you saying the 2% cb doesn't stack with the executive's 2% cb?
