I'm sure it's been mentioned and buried but extended warranty benefit goes away next month which sucks
Uhh yeah I have an Amex, this is not true lol
I'm sure citi fought hard in the bidding process to beat Amex to get the Costco account. Part of the terms were probably to offer better benefits for the customer....

Hmmm, I've actually had this card for years (or at least a PenFed card) but haven't used it since they changed the reward structure from straight cash back to a devalued point system offering basically 80 cents on the dollar. After reading their description of a "regular" and a "plus" card, I still don't know the difference. I mean, difference in terms of how you qualify for the plus vs. the standard card. Clearly, 3% CB with a $25/year AF is << 5% CB with no AF.
They didn't change from CB to points, they are two different cards.

Platinum Cash Rewards Card (standard and plus):

Platinum Rewards Card:

If you have the points card, that is a different card. The cash rewards is only 5% on gas, nothing else.

I don't think so, 3% is pretty high on restaurants, and 4% on gas. The cards with rotating categories will beat these for 1/4 of the year, for example Freedom offers 5% on gas right now until April 1, but I don't think there's a 4% yearly gas card for no fee.

Pretty good card, it looks like
Sam's Card give you 5% on Gas i use it on any gas Station but Costco i Use AMEX

Update: thought about this a bit more.

I have the AmEx Blue Cash Preferred, which is 3% gas. I also have the Citi Double Cash (Mastercard), which is 2% on everything. I also have a Chase Freedom (Visa), which is 1% on everything.

So in comparison, the Citi Costco is only 1% more on gas (4% Citi Costco vs. 3% AmEx Preferred), 1% more on restaurants (3% Citi Costco vs. 2% Citi Double Cash), and 1% more on Costco (2% Citi Costco vs. 1% Chase Freedom or any other Visa that is now accepted at Costco).

1% gas, 1% Costco, 1% restaurants? Probably not worth opening another card. Maybe good for some, but not if you already have a credit card arsenal. I will give them credit, though, as it is still an upgrade, however slight.

it seems to me like it would be worth it to consolidate your cards from 3 to 1 AND get more benefits.

I like the better benifits 4% on gas and 3% on rest.s but the draw for me is the cashback given once a year.

So should we expect Amex's best offer to transition to something else in May? Should have the Citi in hand already, but would think Amex would try and keep some accounts like they are now with the Blue Cash offers.

My understanding from reading other credit card forums and hearing about what happened when other credit card companies took over a branded card is that the only way for my credit history to be preserved and my credit score not to take a hit from losing the credit history built up on my Costco AMEX is with the new Citi Costco card. That's enough for me to keep the Citi Costco card. The better rewards is just gravy on top.

I guess when they don't mention anything about foreign transaction fee for this card, it means its a no. Too bad, it'd be nice if they offer free foreign transaction fee on this card.

So a quick websearch shows that you can't apply for the american express costco credit card now (https://www262.americanexpress.co.../003/35900).

So simply wait to apply for the Costco Citi Visa when it comes out. I'm confident there will be plenty of advertisements and costco customer service folks to get that done.

No longer taking apps for the Amex. Just have to wait for new apps for the Costco Visa to be taken.
