tomorrow is my 25th birthday. tonight he told me if i learn how to cook and have dinner on the table when he gets home, keep up the house on my own, etc basically learn and DO the housewife skills (which i currently suck at) he'll let me be the SAHM i want to be. so.. uh.. know any good recipes? my cooking skills sure could use all the help they can get.

Having no experience w/any of this, I'll just butt in here and say, but at least you can sleep at night, and hold your head up high, teaching your kids the right values and not about how to scam their fellow humans and giving all those who actually need assistance a bad name. A clean conscience is worth a lot, I think.
Seriously, how can people who do this live with themselves?
I know I couldn't. . . but then I was raised Catholic, so the guilt would get me everytime.
Dh and I have been together for over 4 years now, and about 3 months ago she asked him for a *donation* b/c she wants to have another kid.....yes, I'm bitter.

I agree. I am OFTEN jealous of single moms. They get tax breaks, often qualify for government assistance and healthwave, and most of the time get a buttload of child support. My husband pays (in my opinion) WAY too much in child support from two kids from a previous relationship. Yes, I am definitely bitter about it, and yes, he made the decision and I made the decision to then marry him. We all make our choices I guess. I am sure that his ex doesnt have the money issues that we do.

It is very frustrating knowing she doesn't have to worry about a food budget or paying rent or other bills etc.....
She also only lets dh get his kids a couple of times a month. He used to have to go to her house to see them but after the whole donation thing i was like uhm screw that shit...it's not happening!
You wanna know the kicker? She has actually talked sh*t about me to dh's mom and sister's about being a bad mother b/c I have to go to work!!! Comments such as dh is ALWAYS watching dd b/c I'm working.
I as well would caution anyone getting involved with someone that already has children. I love my dh and wouldn't trade him for anything but there have been a lot of tears cried and arguments over his kids and his ex. It has gotten ALOT better in the past 6 months but there was a time when I really wasn't sure we were gonna make it. But what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right?
