This thread is being created so people -- generally, those people who can't seem to resist talking about off-topic junk in the Target coupon thread -- have a place to talk about shopping at Target and other miscellaneous matters.

All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

I was only going to PM you and point out that when we reply to a post, and include it in quote in ours, the original post may get removed but sometimes not all of the other associated posts get taken down.

I actually agree with what you did.

There are certain things that shouldn't be posted ALL over over the place completely spelled out for everyone to try.

It is crazy to have people that barely even know how to use legit coupons trying to to do these same "deals" because they saw someone else do it
.
I totally agree. Key points bolded and pulled from your post (hope you don't mind). Wink

Mod alerting is probably the best way to take something off the boards, so people don't go crazy trying to follow it or ask questions about it, sometimes it is also important for someone to speak up and say it's not ok. I sometimes think when the posts just disappear because they were mod alerted, people don't realize the post was removed, and start trying to find it, think about what it meant, etc.

hey guys - I apologize for apparently causing the thread to get locked down for a time. That was not my intention at all. Frown
Anyhow in the future I'll just MA posts that tick me off and remain anonymous.

I didn't see any of the posts made in response to mine before they were deleted. I'm hoping no one was angry at me for what I had to say.. but in the case you likely were, I apologize for 'making the scene' and hope you can forgive me. And we can all return to being deal buddies. hug
Personally, I agree with how you handled it. We seem to have a large influx of newbies during a really great deal-- many of whom do NOT read the Wiki (to get the message that this kind of chatter isn't allowed.. laugh out loud I think you did the right thing by reiterating that we need to watch how specific some of us can be with our questionable runs.

Did you see someone posted they want a PB&J set?

I'm heading out in a couple of minutes, hoping patio is 50%, I want a gazebo and some chairs and would rather not go tomorrow. I hate bugs, hubby approved the gazebo purchase already, he says that way I will go outside more and be able to eat outside, now I refuse, too many bugs on our patio
No - who posted that?

And I believe that GSTL means Guest Services Team Leader.

Then there are people like me, who have been reading and doing runs for a good while. I haven't posted before for several reasons--
1) everytime i had something to contribute, someone would beat me to it.
2) i saw the response that was given to other "new" posters and didn't want to go there.
3) sometimes it would be days to weeks between Target runs-so didn't want to post outdated information.
the reason I started to post is because I PM'd someone a question and was never given a response. I figured it was because people thought i was a "lurker" or "newby".

All I am saying is give the new people a little slack. Remember everyone was new at one time or another. And lastly, just because you are new does not mean that you don't have good information or a contrubution to make.

Lastly, thank you to everyone for the great deals and tips. I have saved my family and friends alot of money. I couldn't have done it without the old and "new" members. THANKS!!!!worship

The drama has nothing to do with trying to contribute (unless adding your opinion on drama is contributing). Nothing that was posted today had any deals in it - just opinions and we all know that everyone's opinion is different. And yes, the thread was shut down discussing new people (however, discussing new people jumping on and voicing opinions rather than adding deals).

If a new person posts a run or finds a good clearance and posts, no drama there.

I found the most awesome deal on beer tonight. I found $4 Heineken, $4 Budweiser, and $3 Miller tearpads at gas stations and used them on the 6 packs of bottles. $1.50 per 6 pack. Yeah for my party!!!

I joined SD the same time as you did. I also don't post all the time either. I don't think anyone has a problem with helping someone out just because they are new. If someone posts a deal they probably get a ton of PMs from all kinds of people needing help. It does take time go through and respond to all of those individual questions and not everyone can sit on SD all day at work. In the short time here on SD I have noticed a trend: People wander into a thread and then don't bother reading even the last 2 or 3 pages of an ongoing conversation and just blurt out questions about stuff that has just recently been discussed and explained at length. That is the main problem with the new people in general (not directed at you by any means).

Hey guys...No Targeting for me this week ...a not so swell run on Sunday and then our world took a hit on Monday when we took the lil guy to the Pedi and got told they think he might have a skull formation disorder that causes the 5 plates in the skull to fuse prematurely causing less room for brain growth, swelling and a bunch of other possible issues..Crying...We took him for the suggested Xray and we havent heard anything back yet...We are trying to be positive, but when they were looking at the screen to make sure they got the pics they needed it just seemed like theywere asking a lot of questions and taking a lot of notes...Happy thoughts and prayers appreciated...Good luck this week getting all those cheapie/free diapers, wipeys and cereal!!hug

I think you probably must have misunderstood me. I'm sorry for that. I'm not that seasoned with Target, either. I guess what I was saying is that I think Shopgirl did the right thing by reiterating how we shouldn't be posting questionable runs.

Nice haul! I hope your seedless watermelon is yummier than my last one. I bought one at ST the other day and it was practically hollow and dry. Nasty! I was really looking forward to it, too!

It's harder to save tons of $$$ with Qs at the local grocery stores because their system is coded to work exactly as worded on the Qs. Usually, I think I can save around 25%. No Super T around here, so I have to stick to what's local. Mad

Imagine my surprise when I went to my local grocery store and took my $90 BC down to $40. EEK!

I have been seeing lots of tearpads around the grocery stores. Are people buying less in the summer or is it the economy?

Good Job. I have been killing these Tearpad coupons at my grocery store. I am going back tomorrow for more Kraft dressings. They are BOGO right now and I noticed today at work they had the 8pk single dressings. This is good so I do not have to open up an entire bottle. I am getting 24...oh and some KoolaidBig Grin

I am trying to work out a deal on buns...I have 20 packs of Oscar Meyer and about 10 packs of Hebrew National..yummy and more coupons to use..

8 Planters
24 koolaid packs
8lbs ground beef
3.99AC
24
Kraft dressings (going back tomorrow to get 24 more, but the 8pk singles)
3 Cucumbers(these have doubled in price in less than a month)
1 head lettuce
5 plum tomatoes
21 koolaid
$1.14AC

20 crystal lights
17 koolaid packs
$5.xxAC (2.82 was tax)

20 oscar meyer hotdogs
17 koolaid
$2.xx AC

This was me today...Are registers are not coded to work on anything. Its up to the cashier to catch and read all. I only do legit there though...
