In accordance with Lounge rules...gall bladders, who needs them?

So I get mine removed in the morning. I hear it's more or less routine and that we don't technically need them. So I'm giving mine up.

I'm going to ask that the put it in a jar so I can bring it home.

So I'm sans gall bladder.

Interestingly, my throat and ear hurt the worst, followed by my shoulder.

They wouldn't let me keep my gall bladder in a jar. Annoyed

When my dad had his appendix out, his shoulder hurt more than anything. Dr. told him it was gas. I thought that was odd but I guess it can hurt there.

Sadwalk about not getting able to keep your gallbladder. At least post pictures of the stitches Whee

I have had that happen several times and known others who had it happen and not know what it was until I told them to burp as much as they could lol like Barney on the Simpsons.

It's gas from the anesthesia that gets trapped in the muscles.. tends to collect in the shoulder.
Feels like the bones are being stretched apart... hurts like a SOB.

Actually, they told me it was C02 that they used to inflate the body cavity so the surgeon has room to work, and that it would dissipate/be absorbed into the body over time. They also explained to me that is largely why patient O2 levels are a little lower after any kind of laparoscopic surgery. My O2 after my surgery was 91 and kept setting off that damn annoying alarm.

The shoulder pain is getting worse, but my wife just picked up my Lortab, so that should help. Whee

Whee I almost forgot. I think I am required to post this picture any time Raddish has any type of surgery done. Probably not many folks left here that recall the first time it was posted. I can't even remember what it was for either. laugh out loud

Unless you have stones or cancer (rare), you should never get your GB removed. And I can say that because I had mine removed in '96 and really wish I had not. I had a "low-functioning" GB but no stones at all. It would be about 5 years later that I would find out there are treatments for low-functioning GB and that I could have kept mine if I had had the right doctor. Sadwalk
