Dicks Sporting Goods is having a bike sale with some decent prices. Available online and in store, I got mine in store and cashier offered me extra $30 off $150 coupon that worked, so I got it for $270 plus tax YMMV.

The 2015 Diamondback Axis Sport is a cross-country mountain bike, whereas the 2015 Diamondback Overdrive Sport is a lifestyle mountain bike.

Cross-country bikes are designed to be lighter and more agile than other mountain bikes in order to handle a mix of climbing and descending over moderately technical terrain. They typically have 80-120 mm of front and/or rear travel.

Lifestyle mountain bikes are a type of hybrid bike, designed to combine the everyday functionality of a road bike and the off-road capabilities of a mountain bike. They are great entry level or "around the town" bikes. For more info: http://mountain-bikes.gearsuite.c...rive-Sport

Sorry I can't provide more details about the coupon. My receipt says 30 of 150. Cashier had it with him, a credit card sized coupon that he scanned while checking me out.

They are nearly identical. There is 20 mm difference in front shocks, but exactly the same equipment nearly everywhere else. The Axis has been discontinued, so this is like 2015 model. There is not the more significant difference the other poster answering your question suggested there would be as manufacturers can call the bikes whatever they want.

This sale is an outstanding deal that only occasionally comes along. If you are in need of a trail riding bike I would highly recommend the Axis or Lux. These are not going to be Himalayan mountain bikes nor would they be comfortable commuting bikes. But if you have unpaved trails that you ride on and have a department store ($100-300) bike, this would be a serious upgrade. I ride this style (D'back Overdrive) on trails near my house with elevation gains and losses and singletracks, and the limitation is my skill not the equipment quality.

My bike is of a slightly higher quality (by about $200 MSRP), but change out for just a bit cheaper equipment and you have the sale here at Dick's: still a very solid bike.

You will not find this cheaper than $300 on clist in working condition.

Ladies, you don't really need the dropped top tube most likely. If you are shorter, you should be in a smaller frame anyway...just depends on comfort if you want the dropped top tube. The specs are nearly exactly the same for women's vs men's, the only difference is styling of the top tube.

If I or my family needed a bike now, this would be purchased immediately. They should sell out: hopefully slickdealers will see this and buy them. Happy shopping!!

I'm pretty sure they are the exact same, just different names depending on which retailer they go to. Different colors also. I think if you compare the specs you will see What I mean..
