The 2015 Diamondback Axis Sport is a cross-country mountain bike, whereas the 2015 Diamondback Overdrive Sport is a lifestyle mountain bike.

Cross-country bikes are designed to be lighter and more agile than other mountain bikes in order to handle a mix of climbing and descending over moderately technical terrain. They typically have 80-120 mm of front and/or rear travel.

Lifestyle mountain bikes are a type of hybrid bike, designed to combine the everyday functionality of a road bike and the off-road capabilities of a mountain bike. They are great entry level or "around the town" bikes. For more info: http://mountain-bikes.gearsuite.c...rive-Sport

Would you guys recommend the overdrive or the axis? Hilly on road terrain, light off-road trails possibly

Also something to take my dog running with

Decent components, they cheaper out on the shifters, but everything else is OK. $400 is good in nice condition

Ordered one online in the store since they didn't have a green large. Will be there in a couple days and they will put together/tune. Dicks employee was very helpful

They are the same bike. The front shocks are 20 mm difference in give, but that will not matter on light trails. You wouldn't notice a difference between the 2.

The 2.1 inch wide tires will be loud and inefficient on the road, but the bike is large and comfortable (with a modified seat). It feels like a Cadillac Escalade on the road--ie, overkill. If you want a faster, more efficient commute, a hybrid or road bike will be much better. I have one like this for MT biking, and a road with 32c tires (1.2ish inches thick) for commuting. It's good to have both if you live somewhere that you'll ride a lot.
Or simply change the tires to slicks and you have yourself a urban/commuter that makes more sense than a traditional road bike. My gf loves her GT Zaskar for trails here in N. Cal, but after some injuries (mr toads got her..google it), she wanted to ride 80% road/city so I swapped out her Werewolves for a set of WTB slicks, pump to 75psi and she's happy as heck.

Thank you! Is the axis the older model? I'm not finding the axis on Amazon, I see the overdrive as a 2016 model

How are these bikes sized? I am 5'11 and have a 30 inch inseam which places me pretty much in between medium and large. I have a lunch to roll with the large size. Also be aware that these bikes come boxed and you need to bring them into Dicks to be assembled, meaning your car must have some sort of hitch or another method to carry a bike

Yeah, it looks like it was discontinued. You can search for Diamondback 2015 Axis and you'll find it in their archive. I think the Overdrive at Dicks is probably the 2015 also but those don't change much

get a little bit better brakes and get a better fork (~200) and you've got a pretty good bike for $500.

What coupon?
To get the $30 off 150 coupon simply download an app called SnipSnap on your phone. You will find all sorts of coupons including the Dicks coupon you are asking about (in case you don't run into a nice cashier willing to let you use their code). Also to save another 15-20% go buy a discounted gift card to Dicks. Most like giftcardgranny will point you towards the best ones available. Basically after the gift card and the $30 savings you should be 240ish plus tax. Good Luck.

The model is 02-16-2140.... Is the 16 the model year in the model #?

Thanks for the help!

You need the large with the longer top tube. Bike assembly is pretty easy (I've done more than 10), but if new, I would take to Dick's and have them do it. They arrive about 90% assembled so watch a youtube video and give it a shot. If no Dick's near you or too long of a wait, contact your local bike shop where you are all but certain to have it done right. Here in N. California they charge from$35.-$60.

This bike would be a great one to swap for slicks!

I got my wife a 29er, overkill for a 5'7" but she kept taking nasty downhill spills on her cheap bike. Now she loves the trails in SoCal! Don't want to jinx it though......

18". 20" would almost certainly be too big.
