This is YMMY deal.

Homedepot had Dewalt DWS779 on sale for $399 from original price of $599 for a while. Their website still has it as $540 (http://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWALT-15-Amp-12-in-Sliding-Compound-Miter-Saw-DWS779/206541015?keyword=dws779 [homedepot.com]). I stopped by Homedepot today and they marked it down to $300. I used $5 off coupon, so it came out to $315 including tax.

Once again, this is YMMY deal, so please don't hate me.

Great deal but I think that this is very YMMV. When you click on the HD link it says "not sold in stores - online only". I wonder if that was a merchandise return... Either way, congrats OP! Smilie

my store has not had 779s for a while. however last week they did just bring a bunch of 709s back at $260 to clearance them out. maybe different stores are unloading different saws based on what their warehouse has a lot of. or like you said, maybe they just had a return.

DWS779 I think was a seasonal promo model that has been cleared out in most areas. There are non in any store in the minneapolis area. The 12 inch slider they have on display is the DWS780 which is $599.

Buy it & pop in the light and voila you have it converted to a DWS780! Did that with mine.

The 779 was the seasonal version sold at Christmas and other occasions for $399. The 780 is the $599 slicer that is the best of the best.

I bought the 782 over a year ago for $229, almost the same as the above ones and cuts like a dream!

What part number did you need to install to make this work? Was it plug and play or did you need to hard wire it in? When I called Dewalt they said it couldn't be done. I'm sure a way to push the 780s.

You need these three parts. The only wiring you have to do is for the switch into the main power. It took me maybe 20 minutes.
