First of all, you will need a CVS ExtraCare card. This is obtained easily at any store at the register. Some will ask you to fill out the form then and there, others will just give you the card and ask you to return the form later.

Once you have the card, you can now start CVSing

The biggest thing to understand is that CVS uses a promotional program called "ExtraCare Bucks" (commonly abbreviated as ECBs.) These print out on your receipt immediately once you purchase an item offering them; almost like an instant-rebate you get at the register. You can turn around and use them anytime on almost anything in the store, except for alcohol, cigarettes, and gift cards.

Often, CVS advertises items as "Free after ECB" – For example, throughout the month of November, CVS has Crest Pro Health Whitening Toothpaste in 4.2 oz size, for free after ECB. The cost is $3.49, but you get $3.49 back instantly on your receipt. The best part is that there are often coupons available that can actually help you earn money… like for the above toothpaste, there are $1 off coupons available, meaning the item would be $2.49, but you get $3.49 in ECBs back. The limit on this toothpaste for this month is 2. So if you wanted to start off small to get into CVSing, the thing to do would be to buy one toothpaste in the first transaction (and use a coupon if you have one, so that you either pay $3.49 or $2.49 in cash), then use the $3.49 ECBs you get back from that first transaction to pay for the second tube of toothpaste, and again, receive $3.49 more in ECBs.

The trick now is to roll your ECBs so that you rarely pay more than maybe a dollar or two in tax on transactions, instead using your ECBs from previous transactions… then earning more to keep doing the same. It's a cycle (and a game/addiction to some, lol.)

I WBR'd about it, but my dad has given up the job hunt and is taking my mom to a 3rd world country for 3 months early next year. My sister is moving in with her boyfriend and not telling anyone. My grandparents will be here for Christmas and there's drama there, too - grandma is wheelchair bound and bitter and grandpa is on blood thinners and ALWAYS manages to get cut and require medical attention from DH while he's here. Dude bleeds like crazy. My house is falling apart. I won't get a 10 yr anniversary trip next year because we're fixing the damn foundation.

I just want some peace.


Yes, we're healthy, we have enough food and money to be comfortable but I still feel like whining. Ranting

I bleed like crazy because of my Lovenox, too. It sucks ass because every injury is compounded because of the stupid blood thinners.

Whee Mc's holiday program is tonight at school. It was supposed to be last Thursday but they had a snow day that day. She is so excited. All of you Facebookers can be nauseated with pictures later laugh out loud

Guatemala. They're going to do some volunteer work to pass the time. I just worry that they'll get out there and try to live like the natives and will be targeted because they're Americans. They went a few years ago for 6 weeks but lived with natives and had an escort all the time. It makes me nervous with them there on their own.

My neighbor I always talk about is from Guatemala. I don't know much about that area and whether or not it is safe/unsafe.

Sigh... I know - it's Dad's dream. Mom's going kicking and screaming. She'll be OK, but I worry. I also know that I will have a hard time thinking about bringing the boys there to visit. DH probably won't allow it. Can't blame him.


I just got a happy kindergartner home on the carpool express. He wore his jammies all day and looks smooth in his robe. laugh out loud He brought me a present from his teacher! Bigeye She got me a bag to haul books up there (since I'm reading all the time) and a $10 Walmart GC that I'll use to buy stuff for the class. Happy Very sweet.

Awww.

I saw my 7 year old niece last night. For the past several years she won't kiss me on the cheek. It started because I used to have a beard, now it is more of a game. She is my little sweet heart. Well, she gave me a tiny little snowglobe ornament with her name on it. She wanted me to have it so I wouldn't forget her. :heart-melt:

I'm sorry Mozez hug It's funny how Christmas is supposed to be such a happy time but so often it ends up being so stressful people (grownups) just want it to be over with. I hope it goes better than you think and grandpa doesn't bleed all over everything and Tiger doesn't really show up at your house. I'm sure your parents will be fine on their trip and they'll have a lot of memories to talk about for the rest of their lives. I know you'll miss and worry about them though hug
