First of all, you will need a CVS ExtraCare card. This is obtained easily at any store at the register. Some will ask you to fill out the form then and there, others will just give you the card and ask you to return the form later.
Once you have the card, you can now start CVSing
The biggest thing to understand is that CVS uses a promotional program called "ExtraCare Bucks" (commonly abbreviated as ECBs.) These print out on your receipt immediately once you purchase an item offering them; almost like an instant-rebate you get at the register. You can turn around and use them anytime on almost anything in the store, except for alcohol, cigarettes, and gift cards.
Often, CVS advertises items as "Free after ECB" – For example, throughout the month of November, CVS has Crest Pro Health Whitening Toothpaste in 4.2 oz size, for free after ECB. The cost is $3.49, but you get $3.49 back instantly on your receipt. The best part is that there are often coupons available that can actually help you earn money… like for the above toothpaste, there are $1 off coupons available, meaning the item would be $2.49, but you get $3.49 in ECBs back. The limit on this toothpaste for this month is 2. So if you wanted to start off small to get into CVSing, the thing to do would be to buy one toothpaste in the first transaction (and use a coupon if you have one, so that you either pay $3.49 or $2.49 in cash), then use the $3.49 ECBs you get back from that first transaction to pay for the second tube of toothpaste, and again, receive $3.49 more in ECBs.
The trick now is to roll your ECBs so that you rarely pay more than maybe a dollar or two in tax on transactions, instead using your ECBs from previous transactions… then earning more to keep doing the same. It's a cycle (and a game/addiction to some, lol.)

Santa left a ton of stuff and it looks like a tornado hit the living room. It's gonna take days to recover around here. As soon as I get back from FIL's, these nails have to go.

Got to bed at 1:45. Oldest son gets up at 2:00 to use the bathroom so I stayed awake to make sure that he didn't wake up the youngest. Back to sleep at 2:30. Sometime around 3:00 the oldest comes into our room and stands next to DW's side of the bed. She gets startled. He apparently couldn't sleep. DW replied that well, that makes 2 of them now.
Finally really doze off around 3:30. The 8 year old wakes us up at 5:00 AM. 5:00 AM. Santa'a been here!! Woo farking Hoo!
So we are up at 5:00. Apparently they have been up since 4:00, probably meaning the oldest never went back to bed. We unwrapped everything and DW starts on dinner. I convinced her to let me go back to bed. I told her to wake me up around 7:30. She lets me sleep until 9:30 (God, I love that woman). We eat around 10:30.
Overall a really good day. The 2 oldest kids are at their other parent's houses so it is just me, DW, and the boy. We are relaxing.
I really racked up this year
She let me go nap because I was up late doing the Santa thing. DW went to bed when the kids did because she had to cook today. Also, she knew her mother would be here this morning so it was best I was asleep so I stayed out of trouble.
