Looking to adopt a dog, any advice?

Hi SD fellas, I am recently looking to adopt a dog. Spending my part-time with him, or even taking him to my office. Any advice will be appreciated.

I dont have to walk my dog, or trim her fur, and poo "all over the yard" isnt an issue either. As for bathing; its not all that frequent, and it really isnt that big of a deal.

Get a mutt from a shelter, the purebred dogs often have health issues due to the inbreeding needed to create the defining characters of the breed. Which means purebreds will cost more in vet bills that a mutt usually does and that mutt will love you just as much as any purebred dog will.

Adopting from a shelter is a great idea but be forewarned, they are full of pit bulls and pit-bull "types" (cross-breeds). Do your best to know what you are getting. Smilie

We use corn litter, which when combined with cat urine and poo, doesn't have that horrible smell that you get when using clay litter. Plus we use two boxes and clean them daily which keeps the bacteria low.

You're smart. My folks got tired of cleaning the boxes every day so you know what they did? Bought bigger boxes. laugh out loud

And they're not even real litter boxes, they are some kind of shallow plastic bins my dad got from a mechanic shop. They're HUGE! So the cats can (and do) go for days before my folks clean it. They have 3 cats.

Yes, it's just as disgusting as it sounds.

Due to the fibro, I had to buy a litter scoop with a long handle as I just can't bend down without a lot of pain. Perhaps if you got them a long handled scoop, they would be more inclined to clean the boxes daily.
