before my cat passed away I would clean the pan if he used it, with a doggie door he would go out side when the weather was nice and bury it himself, if there was a lot of snow he would not bother...

Get a mutt from a shelter, the purebred dogs often have health issues due to the inbreeding needed to create the defining characters of the breed. Which means purebreds will cost more in vet bills...

Due to the fibro, I had to buy a litter scoop with a long handle as I just can't bend down without a lot of pain. Perhaps if you got them a long handled scoop, they would be more inclined to clean...

If you want a particular breed, you can likely find a rescue group for that breed in your area. I wouldn't recommend a puppy as they will take a lot of work, unless you have a lot of time to...
