Women and Smalller or whimpy men of SD. whats a good carry gun for my wife?

I'm looking at either Revolver or Semi, but won't know for sure until after we go and hold both to see what she's more comfortable with.

She's gone shooting with me multiple times and is a pretty decent shot.

So, what do the women of this forum have and how do you like it? Do you just carry it in your purse/car/house?

Looking at S&W BodyGuard, Shield, Glock 43.....something along those lines.

When you spinach much time as you do in the Lounge, I would have thought you could have come up with something more clever.

Maybe try a Sig P224? NOT a lady, but its a good gun. Small enough to conceal easily.

Shield 9mm. Don't get a small revolver, they aren't that pleasant to shoot.

If you listen to my pop, I should have grown out of these bad puns by now.

partially depends on how she's going to carry it. if she's going with a dedicated body holster, i'd say go for a good semi in an easy-to-shoot caliber like .380 or small-frame 9mm. you'll hear a lot of people calling for the S&W Bodyguard line, but i'd recommend both she and you shoot one before deciding; i couldn't stand the length and grittiness of the trigger, so i opted for a Kahr CW380. [kahr.com] i really like the trigger and feel, but it's given me more reliability issues than i like in a carry pistol, so i use it sparingly. i will say that since an acceptable bake-in period has passed, i might try out the G42/G43 soon.

if she's going to carry in a purse or somewhere else where it'll share the compartment with a bunch of other stuff, she obviously shouldn't carry a semi with one in the chamber, so if you want immediate usage availability (a requirement for me, personally), you're basically down to a revolver. in that case, i'd recommend a shrouded hammer; it gives you the ability to cock to a hair trigger without a hammer sticking out to catch while being drawn. my ex tried several pistols and liked the S&W 638 [smith-wesson.com] most, and when i added a Crimson Trace laser grip, it was easier to shoot and gave her a lot of confidence.

i love the idea of the LCP, but i couldn't buy it because i knew i wouldn't put in the range time i do with my other carry pistols. one of my least favorite triggers ever, and the frame combined with the very low weight caused it to bite into my hand and make anything more than 2-3 mags in a row quite uncomfortable. that's why i ended up with a CW380.

all that said: i know people who swear by their LCP, and it's a must-try for anyone looking for a pocket pistol. it was the lightest .380 on the market at one point, it's crazy small, and every pistol fits everyone's hands differently, so it might be a pleasure to shoot for some.
