I got a few of those before the kid drama. There are a bunch of 5 pack cars at Target that work too. I throw in one on most orders.

So I can't sleep as now I'm worried this educator nutrition lady is killing my kid so I need to stay awake in case he needs me. I called the doc on call and they did tell us to give him too many carbs. WTF, he's 18 months old, not like he can tell us what's going on. Going to try to get in somewhere else for second opinion tomorrow.

So trying to do this borders thing. Holy cow, is their site slow.
what kind of carbs do you have to give him? simple, complex or just any old carb? excuse my ignorance, but i don't really know much about diabetes..ask me about cerebral palsy (what my ds has) and I can tell you volumes!

Are potatoes good for him to have...can you get him to eat mashed potatoes?

Well they told us at first any carbs, 130 a day split between 3 meals and 3 snacks with NO OTHER FOOD, just carbs. They said veggie and everything will come later once we get him stable. Doc disagreed tonight (their educators told me this) and said our hunch is right, he's got too many carbs/not a good balance.

I questioned them earlier today and they said this is the way it should be right now. It was eating at me today and I PM'd a couple of people when I got back home that have been helping me out this week. But then I talked to this lady who is giving us a swingset (long story) and she's a scientist and I mentioned what was going on as we're trying to organize a pickup date and she freaked about all the carbs. So that got me calling the doc on call again. thank god. You know, these people are crazy. It's not their kid they're experimenting with. I'm sick with worry that he's going to wind up in a coma in his sleep and I can't sleep so I sit here trying to find alternatives on what to do and all the while they've been messing him up more.
We're going to raise insulin tomm morning, lower tomorrow night and give him more foods during day and less at night and see what that does. And I'm going to call and see if I can get him into Yale tomorrow. Worse case, we'll call a frickin ambulance and have him carted down there. I just don't want him to be traumatized any more though,he was absolutely terrified at the other hospital, I hope they just agree to an office visit for a second opinion.

I found another match on the 5-digit mfg code for the HotWheels peelies at Kmart yesterday. Monster trucks! The small to medium sized Grave Digger in particular. Not sure about the codes or prices at Target, but it might be worth a check! They were 4.19 at Kmart, but I didn't actually buy one because I found the $1 cars by the check-out. The monster truck should have worked for .81 overage though and would be a nice change from the cars...

those 4.19 trucks were marked down to 3.59 at my store...so probably might go down lower..

ok.. that's it. tomorrow i'm buying me a $30 giftcard and re-ordering my stuff, because I really don't think how it 'went through' before is going to work. I read paying by giftcard makes it easier. (but first I might try that Opera thing.. LMAO)

Just saw "Swing Vote" tonight (Kevin Cosner) - it's a great movie!!!! Tomorrow night is "The Mummy" - love Brendan Fraser & Jet Li. bounce Yeah, I'm seeing sneak previews (get to see them before everyone else), even though I already have tons of Ponds peelies... Does this make me a movie addict? laugh out loud

Alright, did we get Thread Jacked ?

I thought I would read chit-chat 1st b/c it's shorter, but came back to 4 pages. EEK! Too much talk about salsa & ice cream. I don't think that is a very good combination. vomit

Quote from schnauzermomma :
I tend to agree with the posts by megnsamgrace and jen2882... even though I was a seasoned poster on SD, had well over 2000 rep points and knew what I was doing - backwards and forwards - at CVS and WG, I would bet I still just read along on the Target thread for several weeks.

I only posted on the Target thread once I could provide some type of helpful info. But I went out of my way a few times to look for something someone had asked about - prices, availability, sizing - so I could offer up a useful post or two here. I did not want to be someone who just 'took' and gave nothing back.

Also, when I couldn't figure out a deal, I just didn't do it. I decided that if I wasn't smart enough to figure it out by reading along, I didn't have any business going into a Target and attempting the deal, as that might just screw it up for others. I truly wonder how many of the things that have happened over the last few months were due to those who were overzealous and couldn't be happy with a 'great' deal.
S-momma - I remember asking for your help in the Walgreen threads when I couldn't find my way around there. You were the most helpful from the 1st PM!

It is incredible to me that you 2 think you have all Newbies pegged. Have you ever given any thought to the idea of someone closing one acct and opening a new one? Over and over I have read, "Where is whee?" "Where is bjhac?" "Where is so and so?" Do you think it is possible that they get sick of people constantly asking them to do things so they just start fresh with a name no one would tie to them? They were always helping people, weather they were new or not. Maybe ya all should learn from them.
Whee? Bjhac? Is that you????? Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Quote from doublesided :
Hey y'all. No time to catch up on posts but here's our scoop. DS was not admitted but his sugars are still really high, the last reading actually said "Hi" instead of a reading. They want us to up the insulin and call them on Wed. Oh and make him eat, no easy feat for a toddler. They gave us a couple of weeks worth of supplies and said their financial person will call us tomorrow.

They did say to stick with the one touch as it has the lowest insurance copays for when our plan improves and requires the least amount of blood. So no go on the contour. But here's the weird part. I got a spare monitor and it had 10 sample test strips in it. So some of these one touch monitors must have the test strips and some don't but it says it on top of the box that it includes it. So still soliciting one touch MFQ.

We stopped at T on way home to get applesauce for the baby as that's a staple these days and we priced the supplies. Not bad if there are decent overages in August. Told DH I need to live at Target tomorrow and Wed after work to finish up always and FF and get some of our supplies in. They have a small box of strips which economically works out higher than the bigger boxes but will be easier to cover in a run $28 for 25 strips. The lancets and ketone strips are both under $20. So will take a LOT of runs but could get some stuff covered at Target unless there's another big scare.

Crazy thing about the syringes is that my local CVS is having the hardest time getting them. The hospital gave us enough for 2 more days but their special order came in wrong and they had to reorder today. Weird.

I couldn't sleep last night and tried that borders thing, no go for me. The poor kid is just not right, they said it could be a long couple of weeks until they figure out the correct insulin dosage.
Sam, I'm sending you 20 One touch Qs from this week's insert. Abbott does have syringes, and I'm checking on discount prices for you, too.

There has been some conversation about Whee in the last couple of threads. I was curious myself. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

On the bricks coupons. Some manufacurers will mail them and some choose not to. I've never had any luck getting duplicates unles I rewuest them on different days. Even then sometimes they don't show up. When they do mail them they show up fast.
I got a little CLICK-HAPPY with autofill button with the $2/2 J&J Qs. There were 60 envies in my mailbox today of the brick Qs. Big Grin

Quote from teri037 :
Thanks for the help! I clicked on the help button on a couple of the only help it offered was to troubleshoot the coupon printer software...maybe I have to print some first?
If you click on the "Help" button, a fill-in screen for name & address should show up. If not, then there is no other options to have the brick Qs sent to you.

CONGRATS to all the preggers!!!! I'm NOT drinking the SD water. Please don't send that trade my way.

I told the manager that I did it online because of the large selection of books - nonfiction books I'm usually interested in aren't around here in stores, so it's a half truth Wink

Like a virtual credit card number? You'd have to contact your credit card company and see if they offer that... either that or Amex GC or go get a Border's GC laugh out loud

Borders website is now up and running again, but still as slow, maybe slower (if that is humanly possible) and nothing is working, 'this feature is temporarily unavailable' when trying to add books or get into the shopping cart... ugh! No deal is worth this, yet here I am, refreshing and opening new browsers, just hoping.
