There is NO brand loyalty in SDing, I dont care what it is as long as it does it job & is free. From my very first period I have always used tampons, my mother & half sisters 10 & 7 years older ?ed where I have lost my virginity yet, but had not and all was a go!

I agree with the "steer clear of tampax" - I've always felt like those have a climbing rope hanging out of the bottom of them - that string is HUGE. I recommend the playtex...

first of all, i agree o.b. tampons are weird - if anything, their manufacturer should invent a 'reloadable' applicator or something for them. Stick Out Tongue

as for tattoos, i don't have any - but i've never been one to judge other people for theirs. as long as they aren't obscene or offensive (ex: naked ladies/ men or curse words and the bearer is not wearing proper clothing to cover it up in public). otherwise i could care less what, how many or where on their body people get tattoos. tattoos are almost as common as ear piercings these days; i can't believe some people can make such rude comments about them. tattoos have no effect on a person's personality, how they raise their children, their job ethics or anything else.
tattoos do not = bad. they CAN = bad taste depending on the design. but that is in no way whatsoever the same thing. as long as whoever got it, likes it that is what matters.

i do no have any tattoos, but that is more because i just haven't seen anything that i think i'd actually enjoy for the remainder of my lifetime. maybe i'll find something worthwhile, maybe not, i don't know. i just know i haven't found anything i liked enough yet. Stick Out Tongue

dh however has 6 tattoos and wants to go for more. however, he is a bb coach and works at a school so he is somewhat limited in where he can put them (have to be covered up). i don't like the one on his back; its a really big sun thing. but.. i don't look at his naked back too often so it doesn't bother me enough to think anything negative about it. he wanted to get a basketball on his chest.. i told him no way am i going to be forced into staring at THAT every time we.. you know.. OMG i told him if he wants a basketball bad enough he should put it on his back in the middle of the sun thing.
none of his other tattoos bother me - they are all on his upper arms. 1 full arm band, 1/2 arm band on the other with a dragon on the inside, a cross that says "only god can judge me" around it, and his last name in old english text.

anyway, i mainly came to post a question. have any of you ever experienced hostility while buying your sunday papers? not from store employees, but from other customers?

laugh out loud about the tatoos. I have one fairly innocuous looking one (a rose) on my ankle, which rarely gets comments, but my DH has a giant electrical outlet on the back of his calf. Every single freakin' person who sees it has to get the explanation, which is complicated and takes forever. shake head

laugh out loud me too! I didn't even use my 4 B1G1 free always. Hated, hated pads. My mom forced me to use them the first couple years, but I started sneaking tampons from her boxes even before she "allowed' it.

Um, any brand is better than pads. Big Grin But the Tampax pearl or the Playtex sport are good. To me, really, they are all the same.

He even said "I hope you saved one for me" EEK! I usually give them to anyone who wants one, since I just want the Q's, but with his pissy @ss attitude, I smiled and walked away with my HUGE stack of papers!

LMAO LMAO on the basketball!

Never any hostility from customers...I could see if you were buying the last paper and they wanted one too...what would be the reason for hostility? For all they know you have a wedding announcement or something and want alot of copies...

We can only buy papers from the machune here, every sunday I go to grocery store the one machine is at & get my roll-o-quarters and then go pull away, people will stand and watch me, IDK if they think I am stealing them or thinking 'what the F does she need all those for?"

Back when the $10 FP Qs where in the parade, I went and got my usual $10 roll came home ead the board & went back to get the rest from the 3 macines in my very small town, but if someone came behind me in line, I told them I was buying them all & they could step in front to get thier ONE! Smilie No evil; looks just shock.

can't be worse than my pierced belly button. i had just got it done the month before i found out i was preggers with ds. i didn't want to take it out, because re-piercing through the scar tissue would be painful (so i'd heard). so i left it in and it was fine except for the fact that the top hole got stretched and now looks like there is a dimple in the skin above it; the hole itself is ok. i now only wear 'dangly' belly piercings to kind of draw attention away from the semi-weirdness of the top hole. laugh out loud

for sure. i was a late bloomer. not until i was 16. of course literally everyone else had started by then so i felt all left out. little did i know i was actually the lucky one!! bounce
that has got to be the most positive side effect of being pregnant. i swear - not having the visitor for over a year sure was nice. Big Grin

We went to Macy's b/c we had a large gc to spend...didn't even spend all of it b/c dd started being a monster...but I can tell you that I have never "spent" that much on lingerie before in my life..and that was clearance stuff!! that store is super expensive, but I got super cute stuff.

Oh, and I just wanted to share my good deed with you guys because I know you would appreciate how good it made me feel!
OH, I hope you get lots of mileage outa that lingerie! You can do really well at Macy's if you know how to work them. I got some $100 sandals in April for under $10 at Macy's plus Sunday's paper had two 15% off passes, one for clothes includes sales and clearance stuff, and one for home stuff good till Tuesday, then 10% off for the rest of the week. It really is possible to stretch a Macy's gift card pretty far on things you want/need it just might take more than one trip and watching there ads. shopping there website, etc...

so this is my story on the papers..

on sunday i was a bit late in getting out - it was around 10am. It was the first time I've ever ran into other people buying the paper for coupons. They also gave me the stink eye because I was sorting out the inserts there in the store - 1 man accused me of stealing the coupons out of the papers, brought a supervisor over and everything. God, lucky for me she knows I'm there most Sundays and what I was about. And of course I was able to produce my receipt.

Another lady accused me of putting the 'stripped' papers back on the rack when I was done because apparently the last time she bought a paper a couple weeks ago it had no coupons in it. So how humiliating was that I had to explain my entire process to her. I sort the coupons while I'm in the store for different reasons:

1) most importantly, sometimes the papers are stripped or missing an insert. I don't like driving all the way back to the store to swap for another paper. So I take the papers apart while I'm still there so I can get it remedied without wasting gas.

2) this store has tables and chairs as well as air conditioning. makes it super easy to sort out my coupons before going home. Otherwise, I'll be sorting them out in the heat of the sun out of the trunk of my car.. or lug them all into our upstairs apartment when I get home. I don't care for either of those options.

and

3) I don't ever put back stripped papers once I'm done with them. I told the lady - sometimes I find a stripped paper in my batch so I give it to a cashier and pick up a new one. (They keep them there at the register so customers don't buy them unaware that there aren't the proper coupons in them.) I also told her odds around here of getting a shorted paper (missing an insert) are about 1:30 and odds of completely stripped are about 1:50, as per my personal experience.

I then accentuated to her THAT IS WHY I SORT THEM HERE IN THE STORE. Because the newspaper people aren't perfect - sometimes they miss getting coupons in a couple papers. I then thought to myself if she was going to accuse me of being the cause of other people's shorted papers, just because I was the smart person who checked them before leaving, maybe she too should grow a brain and start checking hers as well.

4) As for what I do with my leftover papers, they get thrown into the recycling bin of our building. Sometimes paper buyers will come by while I'm in the store and I offer mine to them if they do not want the coupons. I do know other apt dwellers tend to dig them out of the bin later for a free Sunday paper. Stick Out Tongue

So yeah, then this lady proceeds to ask me where else I buy my papers. I say, IF this store has sold out (which is rare), I go to the other stores [here] and [there]. She goes, "Those are my stores, too. I better run quick before you buy all the papers there, too!" in an absolute jackass tone of voice.

Omg she made me so mad. Mad For one, they are not YOUR stores - anyone is allowed to shop there and buy whatever/ how many they need. For two, they're not YOUR newspapers unless you can beat the competition to get them; even I know that. And three, I do not hoard papers from other people and it is assinine to automatically assume I clear out your favorite supplier every week. The most I ever buy is 20, and lately it's been only 5 or 10 and sometimes not even at all because they haven't been that great in a while. And I most certainly don't drive around buying out every paper source in town. Mad

I'm sorry, but the coupons were extremely good on Sunday, especially with the kelloggs insert. I am going to do what it takes to feed my family - and I personally do not feel 14 papers is excessive. And I definitely don't think I deserved to be chewed out by some random lady over how many papers I buy for the coupons to take care of my family. The way she was acting towards me, made it out like I had 50 papers in my cart instead of the 14 I actually did have. vomit

And don't blame me for "buying them all." The store I usually buy at used to only get in 20 - 25 papers or so. But since I've been a 'regular' on Sundays they've bumped it up to 40 - 50. So there is PLENTY for other people when I'm done getting mine. Yesterday I just happened to miss the rush for them and barely got the last ones because it was a VERY good coupon day + it was P&G week. (I usually only get the 'last ones' when I leave getting papers to later in the evening)

Basically it was totally savage getting my papers yesterday. I'm sure if I'd been loading them into my trunk instead of sorting them right there in front of the registers these people would have gotten physical over them. It also did not feel good at all to be accused of stealing and/ or hoarding coupons. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

I can't help it if I got there first and bought what I needed before they did. I don't feel sorry at all that they lost out. If you know the coupons are good, get your butt out of bed and buy them. Don't wait until the last second and then get pissed off at me because I bought the last ones. Around here, it's you snooze you lose. Literally.

I just don't understand why people would get so ticked at me. 14 is not a lot, especially at this store that stocks so many more than that, it just happened to be the last 14 left yesterday. I hope this lady wasn't another SD'er.. because surely if she was she wouldn't have been so rude over her own tough luck. I know I wouldn't have acted that way towards someone else for getting the last papers. That's just how it goes sometimes, and I suck it up and just buy from Dede.

But I don't know if I'm justified in thinking she was in the wrong for being so rude to me about it.. or if I really am the 'hoard' she made me feel like. I don't think I'm a coupon 'hoard' because as I said above 14 papers is not a lot.. but wanted to see what you all thought and what you would have said to her if it had been you. maybe I really am an egotistical person for thinking/ feeling the way I do about what happened yesterday. EEK!

First come, first serve. Seriously!! You have nothing to feel bad about. In fact, I think you were the soul of patience and kindness to even bother explaining yourself to these jerks.

You are entitled to buy as many papers as you have the money and inclination for. I'm sure that woman you ran into wouldn't hesitate to clear the shelves of a deal w/all those Qs she's so busy hurrying around from store to store to get. laugh out loud

EEK!
wow...laugh out loud coupon wars!!
ummm, I don't know how I would have handled that. I probably would have ignored her, completely acted as if she wasn't there, and kept on about my business. It's not like you knew she would be coming in to buy papers and more than likely if she got there first, she would have bought them all. She was just irritated that someone else got to them first.
