Yeah, don't buy it unless you are able to afford to just toss the money away if it is broke. Wink Didn't say where it was from? Craigslist, it is some guy in Nigeria and he wants a money order. If Ebay, make sure to use PayPal.

Don't do it. One thing I learned from the pawn industry is don't trust anyone. Use swappa.com

Before you pay, check the IMEI number of the phone to insure it's not blacklisted:

thanks, there's a link on swappa to check imei number too.

i will use both when i meet with this woman.

after imei checks out, this is just a matter of putting an existing sim card to the phone, correct?

Should be, just so long as it's definitely unlocked. If for some stupid/ridiculous/unknown reason it's still locked, check AT&T for a link/URL where you can request an unlock.

at that point, that'll be enough for me to kill the sale. the phone i'm buying was originally tmo and the seller said she had tmo unlock it to work with any carrier.

Yes, the carrier must send a request to unlock to apple. They generally won't do it unless the phone is paid off and the bill is in good standing. So if you try a SIM and it doesn't work, then run away.

AFAIK, iphone 6 from T-mobile are all unlocked. I remember I used to order them from apple and select the carrier as t-mobile and they all came as unlocked.

I dont belive that's true. Yours came unlocked because you bought straight from apple. Someone who buys it from Tmobile will probably be locked in tmobile until they get it unlocked.

Update, I went to meet the lady at the ATT store. She handed over the phone. Checked imei number using both links, checked functionality of sound, keypad, camera, etc. Put sim card in and it worked perfect. Phone was in excellent condition and she kept it in an otterbox case. No scratches or dings. Paid her cash and she threw in the otterbox and an Apple logo'd leather case.

She even got there early to put her name on the wait list in case we needed a rep to verify.

Always scary to buy a phone private (stranger) party so I am really glad this worked out. I did stalk her fb page for a while before deciding to put "interested" in a comment.

Anywho, thanks for all your help, people! I wouldn't have known shit otherwise!
