Drunktaining
is the art of entertaining or being entertained while drunk. For example a drunk person may post when no one is around, and they have to drunktain themselves. That is sad and frustrating Crying

So, what exactly is a gayberry?

Quote from wiles :

It's a term or any kind of berry or fruit that a person would use to make a fruit smoothie to drink, instead of drinking beer, tequila, or vodka.
Some people even speak Gayberrolian.

i think they're both sports, but you can't even compare it. baseball- play every day, sometimes two in a row and you're not exhasted. football- most barely can move monday and physically need a week to recover.
Yep. Could throw basketball into the mix also. A heck of a lot of running up and down the court, 80 or so games per year and often on back to back days.

Rivera is pitching. This series is swept. I'm not even worried about jinxing it, either.

EDIT: The moment after I hit submit, there's a single to right field. WTF.

Heh, I was being kind of tounge in cheek, but we could debate this.

Let's see, 162 nights of standing around and sitting for 3 hours while perhaps having to run for a ball a half dozen times on a busy night.

Then swinging a bat less than a dozen times per night.

Can't say that it's all that much work Smilie

Don't get me wrong, it definitely takes talent for the job. But compared to what an offensive lineman, Safety, or running back goes through in a 16 game season ?
I know you were. Which is why I was over the top with my answer.

However, I love these debates, so:

For a starter like a Derek Jeter, it's the practices before the games, practices on your days off, games sometimes 6 or 7 days a week, TRAVEL every 3 days or so to different cites and different time zones.

Then in the game it's not stress free sitting around, even when your on the bench, and in the field (so half the game) you go from super tense to relaxed to super tense every pitch.

Football is harder on the body in the short term, sure, due to the contact and running, but you could argue that with a definitive offense and defense, those guys sit on a bench for half the game as well. Plus (and this is a legit question, I don't know) how many players are actually in the game for every play?

Add to that that they get to practice in their home towns and only travel once a week (well twice... i guess you have to get back) it's not that taxing on the overall person.

But still, I reiterate, the cross country runner has the hardes schedule of any of them and blows them all away as far as work, taxation, travel, etc and all for fraction of the money. So Stick Out Tongue

I'm not doubting his stats and that his ERA is 1/3 less than the next guy (Fernandez), but voters look at win-loss record and how well the team did as opposed to the hypothetical "what if he played for a playoff team?". That's where he suffers. Granted, Hernandez didn't play for a playoff team either, but his 19-5 record looks much better than Greinke's 16-8. And only 1/3 more in ERA (2.16 vs. 2.49).

I wonder when Greinke will be a free agent and how much Steinbrenner would have to shell out to get him. I know I just pissed off every Yankee hater with that statement. Tongue
they look. but 16 wins on a last place team won't count against him especially when the league lead is only 19

randy johnsons season on the diamondbacks with 2.14 , perfect game and just 12 wins matters. 15 should be enough

Don't you dare jinx him! EEK! It reminds me of back in 2004 when the Yankees went up 3-0 on the Red Sox and a good friend told me, before Game 4 started, "Don't worry. There's no way the Yankees will lose the series." To this day, I remind him of the curse he put on the Yanks that year. Mad

2 more outs to go. A double play would be *really* nice. Smilie

11 per team. and most of the time they're not playing they're practicing. OTA's start up almost right after the draft.

i think when you can pitch a perfect game half drunk that ends the conversation how grueling baseball is Wink

He only had 12 wins that year when he won the CY? I don't remember that. Confused It'll be interesting. I wonder if any other 19-game winners, like CC, will get any votes.

Randy Johnson is a hell of a pitcher. I remember ten years or so ago when the Mariners were chock full of amazing players - A. Rod, Edgar Martinez, Randy Johnson, Griffey Jr.

Swept!
