We had a very nice vacation! We were in NW PA at a cabin. It was nice to sit back and relax. The nearest store is a Super Wmart and it is 32 miles each way, yikes.We hiked, played outside, Ryan rode a pony, played mini golf, grilled, and had a campfire every night (and I sat and clipped q's one night in front of it.) Oh yes and went for ice cream every night too!
Ryan had a blast just running around outside and having fun. He slept hard every night, he wore himself out.
We are happy to be home though.
I apparently have a bunch of reading to do apparently. If anyone knows of anything great, I would so appreciate a pm, you know I dont usually ask for help, but I have a lot of reading to do.
Missed you guys, we had no cell or internet, and actually it was kind of nice.
I have to run out and get a paper tonight and use up some more Krafts! Glad to be home!
We took DS to the beach on Friday mid afternoon. He was having a blast but his nose was a little runny, no biggie. We tested him as soon as we got there, he was a little high but we figured he's going to get some exercise. Test him in the car when he's done figuring we'll need to correct a low and he was almost 300. We are puzzled. So he's high that night, seriously high in middle of night and in morning. Yesterday he levels out a bit then is high in afternoon a few times. But overnight isn't bad so I can't blame the new insulin. So yesterday I throw out all the old bottles of insulin for his morning insulins and start new just in case, it's about 27 days old and we're supposed to start new at 31 days. That doesn't work. His numbers are over 300 4 out of 8 tests today. Racking my brain, OK he may have a cold but that would keep him in the 200's, not really 300's I think.
Now I never do bath time, that's DH's job. But he's working overtime tonight. I go get DS undressed and bite back tears. On one of our injection sites is what looks like an infection. I try to examine more but I need DH to hold him down and he won't be home until 1am, need a pic of it.
My poor kid all day has been cranky and trying to tell me that something hurts, I thought it was just a cold or allergies. I just stuck the pad in to test for ketones, going to wake him in a few hours to see if he has them. I don't think so though, I'm pretty sure it's this infection and I can't believe DH didn't notice it. I'm not blaming him, we're both insane with all this diabetes stuff but it's just another thing we screwed up on with him.
I'll tell you, if it's not an infection, then I'm seriously baffled. The kid could have a virus or something, I'll have to bring him in. But I think it's an infection.
Sorry don't mean to be debbie downer, I'm just so damn frustrated with this disease. The kid is running away from the shots and I feel so bad doing them. Now with the new insulin it's an extra shot and that makes it even worse. I want it to go away.

On another note, I can just hear the cashiers talking after I left the store tonight. Psst did you see that crazy lady who got 22packs of hot dogs??? Used all of the hot dogs up, and they were BOGO! I still have 50 of other Krafts left to use!
