All you folks who hang out in the Target coupon thread, start hanging out here instead! When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

It does!!! Then the washer repairman (I talk about him like he is like a god to me laugh out loud) explained it all though, and it made a lot of sense. Regular washers use about 90 GALLONS of H2O a load OMG whereas HE ones only use about 12 gallons.
My husband was weary of the little bit of water the washer swirls clothes around in, but they do get clean. He has complained about the smell of the clothes and was claiming they were not getting as clean. I knew they were getting as clean if not cleaner by the stains and dirt coming out better, but the smell made it seem worse to him. So I started to use a little more detergent, so he could have fresher smelling garments!

Also for goodness sake don't leave a load in a front loader after washing with the door closed, and forget about them. I have done that many a times, and they start smelling moldy before the next day. You will have to rewash. Stick Out Tongue I just got the Tide total care and have only done a few loads a few days ago, but I think it is a big improvement. I want to do some laundry now to get caught up, but I have been trying to avoid washing clothes during peek electric times to save on the electric bill (saw this in an electric news letter, they claim you save a lot to wash later at night, or earlier in the morning).

I have done that before Yuk some times I have to rewash 2 or 3 times to make the smell go away!! It is horrible! Sometimes, if I can't start the dryer right away for whatever reason, I open the door on the washer and leave it open. That seems to help nod

So you save the environment and $0.05 a load

But spend $800 on the damn machine

We do help the environment a bit which this world need every bit of help it can get for sure! Stick Out Tongue But our family is on a well in our neighborhood so we don't pay for the water. We just pay for the electric to pump the water, but hopefully the well doesn't break (it is 6 or 7 years old) cause that will eat the savings. I guess good thing we share the well with a few people. I guess less water to have to pump around! We have a water softener now, and the water man and the appliance man told me that having a water softener means you can use even less detergent! EEK! I just can't use less for the smell! LMAO Even when I had a regular washer I always used more. I also use to much dish soap, shampoo, soap, body wash and bubble bath, but I like my suds! I guess I get such good deals on these items now, like 2 to 10 for the price of one, so I indulge from the stockpile! LMAO

Yeap, leave the door open to wait for when you will dry the clothes. This will save them, at least for a while. nod I always have to remember not to forget.

Like I will be doing laundry, and then it gets later in the day and to avoid peek time electric costs, I open the washer door and leave the clothes sit till I get them in the dryer that night.

I've done that a ton. Just add some baking soda or Arm & Hammer detergent. It eliminates the smell.

You should also run a cup of bleach through your washer at least once a week on a hot water (shortest) cycle. You will also see if you are using to much soap if you see it bubbling at the bottom. I only use about half the amount of regular soap than they advise.

I have a couple of mama mia peelies I would love to trade for some shutterfly ones. PM if interested. Smilie
