Ah, it's nice to be remembered.... thank you for thinking of us..
SORRY, but this is going to be a long post, skip it if you're not interested...
I did get to go down to Wa. for 4 days about 10-12 days ago... but when I got home, all heck broke loose with my SIL.. so I have been just trying to keep up as best I could on SD, but didn't have much time to read or post much.
My SIL has graph versus host diasese - which they say is a good thing for staying in remission. But it is very painful, so much so that he couldn't keep down food or water again and was back in hosptial to get fluids again. He's out now... but boy, he looks like a walking skeleton... and it's so hard to see him like that...
This man was a gym nut... all natural.. 6 pack man... been like that since I met him at the age of 16.. so to see him walking around in his underwear, shoulders hunched over and so depressed, is just heartbreaking to me...
Between his not keeping food down, not being able to get out of bed as he has zero energy.. it takes everything he has, plus me helping him to make it to the bathroom...
So he's mad at the hosptial for not listening to him about the pain.. (their still on the take more hydromorophone) and it just doesn't work for him, so he missed some appts. at the hosptial because he was mad at them, then they phone and get mad at him, and around we go in circles...
He unfortunately just didn't seem to get a good "team" as they are called, that he feels comfortable with. So he went to his GP and thank goodness he talked him in to going back to the hosptial for his tests and follow ups...
He also put him on steroids to give him so energy..and boy oh boy what a difference that has made over the last 3 days... (though he's only allowed to do three days at a time, then wait x amount of days before he can take some more)
But yesterday and today we were blessed with sunshine.. YEAH.... and they woke up early and I could hear them laughing downstairs... (they are living in my suite downstairs right now) and then I heard the door close... so that was a good sign to me.
When they got back, my GD was sopping wet, they had gone to the water park and had a great day..
So I'm hoping that these steroids keep working for a while.... when he thought he was going to die, he really wanted to take my GD to Disneyland... and still does...
So between my sister and I we have the airfare and hotel covered with airmiles, going to book that tomorrow. So nothing OOP for that.
Him and my daughter want me to come with them.... they really want me to see my GD enjoy her first trip to Disneyland... which I thought was very sweet... I had to raise my GD for a few years as my daughter had problems a few years back, and I took custody of her... ( a long story that I don't ever want to have to go through again, worst year of my life)
Anyway, they really want me to come, but I would have to drive down, as I have used all my miles on them.... Not that I mind driving, as it gives me a reason to stop at more Targets and visit friends in Sacramento.. But I will have to leave 4 days before them, so I can pick them up at LAX.
My GD doesn't know, it's going to be a surprise for her. They are going to take her to the airport and tell her they need to pick up a friend. Then they are going to slip on some mickey ears, and SIL is going to put on some goofy ears and then tell her...
I'm going to be telling her I'm going to Wa. again to go to Target and will see her when I get home... But then I will go to LAX and kinda hide until I see her, then pop out of the corner and surprise her that "Nana' is here too!!
So I have been planning this huge garage sale for a while and have had to cancel it a couple of time due to him getting sick, but it's on for this coming weekend, and I have spent the last 2 days and nights sorting and pricing stuff... and I'm not even half way done.....Hoping to make enough to help pay for the drive down...
Problem... I have all this stuff to finish sorting, marking as well as doing a birthday cake and a wedding cake for this weekend as well...
Plus I have to do a wedding cake for Oct. 11th, so I have to have all that done before I go and find someone to deliver it on Oct. 11th... half of it's a fake cake, the other half is real... it's a victorian style with lots of detail on it... So it's going to take me awhile to do it...
I'm trying to find someone else to cover me for that one.. but no luck so far. The bride doesn't care if it's premade and frozen for 2 weeks before hand, which is a bonus.
No, it doesn't make the cake taste any different if it's flash frozen, then defrosted the day before... I don't have to do it often, but sometimes, when I have to ship them out.
Yes, I'm a cake decorater... I own a By Appt. Only Bakery and this is my job... SD is my second job now...
I need to leave Vancouver on Sept. 23 or 24, so that leaves me so little time to do everything...
Plus my mom is finally moving out... and she will be moving out the weekend after I leave, and all her stuff is in my garage BEHIND all my stockplies... Though I hope alot of it sells... But I do have to make sure it's easily accessible for my sister and brother to get to so they can move her....
Get someone to watch and feed my dog... clean my house, since I'm OCD about that when I go away.

Now that's my lengthy story, all got up....
Now to a funny not so funny story, if you don't mind...
When I went down to Wa. last time, pull up to the US customs, and hand them my special Drivers License... only 500 of them given out, a pilot program I'm in.
Anyway they always ask, where you live, where you going, how long, blah blah...
not this time, he hands me back my DL with a paper taped to it, and tells me to pull into the stall and an officer will be going through my truck... HUH...
Okay, look at the slip and it states, MULTIPLE trips...think okay, I've crossed so much in the last 6 months, they think I'm smuggling or something... Not worried, go ahead.
So I go into the office, they ask me a TON of questions, make me sign some form saying they can check my truck... sign away...
So the officer goes out to my truck and him and another officer are going through it, with a fine tooth comb... I'm thinking, YUCK.... when you put your hands under the back seat or down in between the cushions,,,, you might find some old food that my GD dropped, or old ketchup packets that you might break putting your hand down there... YUCK again...
You all know how kids seem to drop stuff and you never find it, until you stick your hand down looking for something else...
Next thing I know the K9 unit officer is there, with the dogs going in my truck... I think holy crap never had this happen before...
Then I see the one officer holding some papers and showing them to the other officer and the K9 unit guy... I'm like what did he take out of my truck??
So then the put the dog in again... btw, the dog ate my bite size brownies I had on the front seat... thought they were trained not to do that...
Anyway the officer starts walking back in, comes into the office, I smile at him thinking I can go... NOPE.
He says, "Can you tell me why you would have this in your truck" he's holding the papers he took out of the pocket in the back of the truck...
I say can I see it...... I look at it and....YIKES...
I almost died.... it was a package that I had printed off the internet in 2005 about Crystal Meth..... hence the most awful year of my life and daughters problem (she's been clean for 3 yrs now)
Since I had no idea about it, I had printed it so I knew what I was dealing with....
Well it had all kinds of info - about how it's made, what you need, and of course the symptons, etc...
I tell him right away, daughter, problem, didn't know it was still even in there... (it was my hiding spot so my daughter wouldn't see it, as this is before I confronted her about it).. I tell him - look at when it was printed = it showed it on the bottom ot the page...
Tells me well it's not a very good idea to try to cross the border with that kind of reading material... I was like no $hit Sherlock... Tell him he can throw it away, hands it back to me, and tells me NO, you throw it away, so ripped it up and threw it in the trash in front of him... He now tells me I may be flagged for awhile... CRAP..... stupid me... for not cleaning out my truck sooner... but it was stuffed in with coloring books, reading books, etc... just plain forgot about it.
So when I'm coming back to Canada, the US customs guys are about 25 feet away from the Canada side and are checking vehicles... guess what...
Same guy, same K9 guy.... they see my truck is FULL, from back of the SUV ,to the roof and spilling into the passenger side....
I tell them, I TOLD YOU I WAS GOING SHOPPING....
Thought I would share that, as it's funny now, but wasn't then...
DS - Did you get the envie from California with the strips, battery, lancets etc from my friends...
Okay Target related.....
Had alot of good runs... no problems with cashiers or anything... One cashier that I love, had to go on her mandatory break, so GSTL finished up my coupons... then she gets a message on her little phone or whatever it is that they carry... She says that's funny, they are telling me..... "COUPON LIMIT"... she says never heard of it... we don't have a coupon limit.. so she ignored it... YEAH.....
All deals I seen - always get posted before I get a chance, so nothing new..
First time ever that I had to do some returns as coupons were missed or they rang up wrong...
Anybody in the Anaheim area? Can you tell me some good stores to visit while I'm there... would greatly appreciate it... I don't mind going in a 25 mile radius of Disneyland... and any on the way up the I5 going back into the Sac. area...

Shopping for 4 days straight at 10 stores, right? I would need a semi-truck to cart all that home.
Maybe you should get an RV - you don't have to pay for hotel and have more room for your shopping trips.
Superwoman schedule - that is a lot of planning for the next 2 weeks... Good luck and have fun to Disneyland. We go there everytime we visit LA - which is almost every year.

Hey I read back about a month ago (not sure if it was this thread or the Target Deals thread) where some of you ladies were getting the "All You" magazine filled with coupons really cheap.
I see on the All You website it's $21.24 for 12 issues, but since I'm such a deal shopper I'm wondering if I can subscribe to it at a cheaper rate?
