Comcast Internet Essentials 10 mbps for 9.99/month wireless modem included

Comcast has a internet essentials program for

Families with children
People receiving housing assistance
Seniors
Community College Students

If you qualify for the program (online questions, answer truthfully) you can get started fairly quickly and Comcast will provide a wifi modem all for $9.99 a month. I believe they will give you a call to verify your information and set up a install date. This is probably the lowest you can get for fast reliable internet and you meet one of the requirements above.

I am able to stream 4k video with this speed if nothing else is running.

I've never heard of this. I just searched the forums and there is no mention of this deal anywhere. Are they providing internet via WiFi? Or do you get a real cable modem with this setup?

Does anyone know if it's possible to get this if I already have comcast Internet? Like as a second line? It would be nice to have a second line dedicated to just hosting some of my server stuff and automated downloading stuff...also it would mean I could drop the $50 per month unlimited data thing so it would be cheaper

I got mine with a Wi-Fi modem but they charge an extra $10 for rental fee.

I think nowadays they supply a modem with built-in wifi. I got a plain old DOCSIS 2.0 modem when I first joined. They've since replaced it with an Arris TG862G-CT DOCSIS 3.0 (8x4) modem.

Might wanna bug Comcast about it. There shouldn't be any fee for rental equipment under Internet Essentials plan.
