Sam's Club has an HP Pavilion 15.6" laptop [samsclub.com] with full HD with AMD A12-9700 processor and 12 GB RAM with 256 SSD.

Features:
AMD Quad-Core A12-9700P APU
15.6" diagonal Full HD SVA antiglare WLED-backlit (1920 x 1080)
12GB DDR4 SDRAM / 256GB M.2 solid-state drive
Front-facing HP Wide Vision HD Webcam with integrated dual array digital microphones
Back-lit keyboard
Optical Drive
2 USB 3.0 ports
1 HDMI port
4.55 lbs.

Checks a lot of boxes for me, Full HD, SSD drive, 8+ GB RAM.
Downsides: no touchscreen and heavy.

No reviews that I can find, but Sam's has a decent return policy.

Those who purchased copious amounts of Sam's Club gift cards using AMEX's (now expired) offer of 20% back on purchases would have a net cost of $400+tax.

No, unless you play at low settings. It's on par with the new integrated intel HD 620

Depends on the games you want to play. I play Starcraft 2, League of Legends, and others on a lower spec laptop, albeit with settings turned all the way down. It's not my primary gaming machine though, it's for gaming on occasion while traveling.

Depends on whether the game in question is CPU bound or GPU bound. CPU performance is well below a Core i5 but the onboard video is vastly stronger than anything Intel offers in this price range. Some games with AMD driver optimizations will perform better.

Would this be any good for editing video? If not, anyone have a recommendation they could give? Looking online, I seem to be finding a lot of outdated top 10 lists.

Looking for something that can handle 2.7k and/or 4k in the near future.

TIA

Strange they would load you up with some nice specs and then leave you with the Home edition of Windows 10

I have spare upgraded batteries, cheap on ebay or amazon. 40 mins seems quite short estimate but I guess it depends on HOW you are using it, just like a smartphone would..
