I believe so. But I just link my paypal account and it works fine.
Only thing about PayPal to be careful of is if you plan to actually but from Xbox. There was a story about a guy being -14k coins in Overwatch after buying loot boxes. Turned out what had happened was PayPal reversed the charges temporally then reinstated. However, the temp reversal caused Microsoft to reverse the loot box purchase and after that everything became messed up as Microsoft's system didn't reinstate the purchase.

It happens. A lot. But most of the time it's fixed. I've had almost the same thing happen to me with a Team Fortress 2 transaction and Steam, using Paypal. But Steam fixed it in less than 2 days, not sure why XBox wouldnt be able to fix it.

Apologies, children distracted me so i guess it's not as clear as I thought.
What I'm saying though is PayPal for some reason could do a weird charge reversal (maybe claim the purchase was fraudulent) only to turn back around and fix the issue. Another way to describe it is as a person named PayPal does your shopping at a local store. They walk in buy the item you requested, then walk to the return desk get a refund then walk right back to the register and buy it again. For that dude (and i believe a few others) the store decided to keep both the purchased item and the money. In the end the issue was likely a bug in both Microsoft and PayPal's systems that might never happen again.

I was thinking I saw somewhere, someone say PayPal did that by nature. So why Xbox couldn't fix it without impacting, I cannot say. I suspect it had something to do with laziness as MS tried to blame Blizzard at first.

Essentially dont worry about it all because that was one freak occurrence, not something to worry about at all.

Seriously dude? It doesn't matter if it's through PC or console, you need a payment method on file.
