Is lack of PoE a big deal when this has wifi? I guess for those intently set on using these as *wired* cameras? But then why not just get a non-wifi camera in that case?
it's a WIRELESS security camera. that's obvious
New to the market and had to look what "POE" was, adding a quick summary I read below.

PoE stands for Power over Ethernet, it's a technology that transmits both data and power supply simultaneously to network devices (such as VoIP phones, Wireless AP, network camera etc) without changing existing Cat.5 cable network structure. PoE allows you to supply power to a networking device using the same cable that transmits the data, which in turn, greatly reduce the cost of installation and maintenance.

A complete PoE system includes Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) and Powered Device (PD) two parts.

Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE): The equipment supports PoE function such as PoE switch, PoE injector (midspan) etc.

Powered Device (PD): IP/network cameras in video surveillance system.

I'll agree with both of the first two comments. Great price if you looking for a non-POE version. I'm also looking for a POE version but with this price (and an "authorized dealer" for full 1 year warranty) it is very tempting. Thanks OP.

It's not often that you find a cheap 1080p PoE camera with pan and tilt.

Same boat. For a retail price of ~$80 making this around 20% cheaper, it's almost like getting it to test with and see what I do and don't like for a better educated decision for when I do get the PoE models I want.

If you're recording video then it's going to be over the (presumably Wifi) network right?
Would that be intense on your LAN bandwidth assuming 1080p 24hour monitoring?

Pulled the trigger. I have a FI9821WV2 (720p) that I'm currently using as a baby monitor w/ Tinycam and it works well. Now that we have a second, I'm going to need to install another one in the other bedroom to keep an eye. Since I'm using wifi for the Foscam, I figure it'll be the same with the Amcrest. No real need for PoE; at least for now. And if I ever do, from the other thread it seems like you can just buy PoE adapters on Amazon for $6-7.

I also got one from the deal last time with same price. I'm happy with this product. Its motion detection and alert works accurately (sometimes it captures lightnings also). Its free cloud service should be sufficient if you set up the motion detection on wee hours only. I got 64 GB micro SD card for this and it should cover at least 2-3 weeks of continuous recording. Two-way talk is convenient feature when my wife talks to me from up-stair.
