I called Wells Fargo to confirm the deal. My wife was envious when I got a fat check from the previous deal.
I showed my sympathy by calling to confirm the deal is still around. They renewaled it.

Also, can you just close the account after you get the bonus, with no penalty?

Joining up with wf now will probably be the safest time after getting caught in their account churning shenanigans. Give them five years and they will find some new way to scam customers to create fresh employee bonus qualification tiers.
