Need mattress help

1st time mattress buyer. I have no idea about them. Mine has a sagging section so it's time for an upgrade.

I'm 6 feet tall, 230 lbs. I usually sleep on my side, but I do sometimes sleep on my back. Only need it for myself. What size do I get? What type of mattress do you recommend? Don't have much of a budget, so I'm guessing I'm going to be stuck with the typical spring mattress. I've done some light local googling and I see some outlet stores near me. Mixed reviews. Are outlet stores just selling off brand stuff? A customer of mine offered to sell me a mattress at employee pricing at his store.

You have to at least test the mattress in the store. Try to get at least a half hour on it. The longer the better. Just be clean. Most mattress stores are always empty so if you get a tude from the salesman I would actually tell them to fark off and just leave.Once you buy it it's pretty much yours.
Personally though I like no frills super firm mattresses. Their cheap and they don't hurt my back. I have heard coil count matters.
If you never expect to get lucky on it just get a queen, otherwise kingsize is the way to go.

Yup, queen sized mattress/box-spring set will work best. Better support than most king-size sets.

Tuft & Needle. Or for a cheaper mattress, buy a well-reviewed memory foam mattress from Amazon.

Look at the reviews on these, it's what I'm sleeping on now... Need a box spring but your old one is usually good. Matresses wear out before the box spring underneath.

I'd get a Hästens Vividus mattress.

Stay away from name brand. We saved about $300 when we chose similar non big brand mattress. It was about $800 instead of $1100. Shop around and do pitch one store deal to another. First store said they will include tax in the price and 2nd store matched it once we had negotiated the price.
Talk to the sales person, they know the product and can give you detailed information once they know your needs.

Box springs are a thing of the past. Get a twin futon.

last year, i went from the higher-end king Simmons i'd had for almost ten years to a queen Tuft & Needle, and i'm quite happy.

i'm 6'2', so i did enjoy having the extra real estate when i shared it with someone, but i'm solo now, and i haven't felt like it is too small (unless you get a Cal king, the length is the same anyway). i'm a side sleeper almost exclusively, and i feel the T&N is a good balance of support and softness for that. i have not experienced any issues associated with older memory foam mattresses (heat retention, unstable edges, persistent smell, etc.).

if i were to nitpick, i think it could stand to be a bit more firm, but that's obviously a personal preference, and it's not nearly enough to make me consider replacing it.

the queen is $600 shipped, which is pretty low for a quality queen mattress.

Can't you just put it on credit and not pay it like you did with your medical bills? laugh out loud
