I don't know why this wouldn't be tax deductible as long as the organization donated to is a registered non-profit. The deduction would be based on the value of the items donated not what you paid...

If you got these for free, you shouldn't be writing the donation off on your taxes. If you're going to do this, do it for the charity and the charity alone
