I'm okay with those types of TV's being a Network Engineer, as they are hard to find. I don't need more wireless TV's with poor firmware updates and smarts with security vulnerabilities on my home...

True but what about updating TV firmware or Software? You gotta stay on top of loading it to a USB to update your TV? Thats kind of annoying.

Yup, I agree with you, that's why I'd like something external that updates on its own. It's like updating a BIOS on a computer, it's good to do, but is generally archaic and time consuming.

I own a atyme 43" 4k i bought from frys for 199 +tax about 2 months ago...i love it. I actually use it for work (IT Job) and replaced 3x 24" dell monitors with 1x 43" tv. I don't have another 4k...

The updates are mostly for security reasons & other safeguards that might be breached thru wireless connectivity. ie: credit card information when renting pron, alexa "cyboring" with google & racks...
