I have this model and have freezing issues with 4k discs. Regular blu-rays play fine, 4k disc don't. Mine will play about 30min of the movie then will freeze shortly. Continue to play flawlessly for the next 25 min, then will freeze again. It froze 4-5 times watching top gun maverick.
You can't play 4K UHD Blu-Rays on a PS4
The problem is that 4K content is huge and the 4K content that you are streaming is compressed. Like REALLY compressed. You aren't getting the great sound of 4K media, and the visuals won't match what you will see with a 4K UHD disc. If you have a $1,000+ 4K TV and you are using 4K streaming content... you don't really care about the quality that you are receiving at your TV.

Dumb question maybe… I have an OLED (sony). Like many people I tend to watch movies via streaming services (prime, Disney +, etc). I also have a Sonos arc and sub for audio. Am I not maximizing my technology capabilities for audio and or picture by using streaming? Is it always best to have a blue ray player and watch the discs to get the best of the best? Let me know as this stuff sometimes is confusing to me. I always think by streaming I am getting top notch. If someone has a solid tv and theater system do they tend to always watch movies using blue ray player?
If you are streaming you are not getting the best quality at your TV. You are simply maximizing the ease of use that streaming gives you. Being able to just click a movie and it plays. But if you want the best picture quality and audio you can't beat physical media. 4K UHDs are often times 100GB discs. When streaming the 4K content they are compressing it down to about 20GBs. They have to sacrifice audio quality to get it down that far. Video quality gets effected too.

As others have said, UHD disc is better quality than streaming, or at least it should be.

But that said, I have a 77" OLED and I am still impressed by how good streaming can look, especially Dolby Vision stuff, even if it "isn't the best". Audio though can be more lacking when streaming, and more noticeable if you have a good Atmos system with good subwoofers.... but for 99% of people it's "good enough".
